We want to create a hostile environment for the opposing team but do it the right way and you guys are doing it. Thanks for that...Hope it carries over to hoops.
a friend of mine got reps last week for saying something about the refs sucking...he is a prayer leader and had a meeting with a certain dean that will remain nameless basically tearing him apart for setting a poor example...and try to explain that he kept it clean, but this dean would hear none of it....this is the kind of crap JB needs to deal with...

I'm not saying it's a terrible thing or telling anyone what to do or not do, but count me among those who are a bit "queasy" about the use of the word "suck". Yes, I understand that some of you "youts" honestly consider it a harmless synonym for "stink", but more people than you might think (and not just old hags) are well aware of it's other connotations and cringe when we hear it. Bottom line is it is totally unnecessary, and you can accomplish everything you want to without it.

The game sounded phenomenal on the radio...Those dang-ed thundersticks make alot of noise. It made 14,000+ sound 34,000+. It was funny to hear Jerry E. yelling the call over the crowd. The excitement level in the whole place was unprecedented.

4th Quarter: The bench was playing...I hope that's why the intensity fell through. Other than that, we came out of the tunnel as tight as I've seen the Flames in forever.

How can we get this into the Vines for basketball?

MASN did a great job I thought, it was odd for me seeing a Liberty come on in eastern NC (ACC country), I forgot it was on MASN and we had it on at work watching Pittsburgh and Syracuse and it came on saying "LIVE from Lynchburg, Virginia" so it got my attention. The only thing they could have worked on, like Scar said, was the names... it's Rashad Jennings, not Rasheed Jennings.

It's ashamed that we have people like this policing our sidelines. It is so counterproductive to the atmosphere we are trying to create.
Send an email to Jeff Barber and let him know about that. I'm serious. That's not within LUPD's job description. They're a police department, which does not include them being the word police. Now if the deans want to come down and monitor behavior on the student side, that's within their bounds. However, unless you're breaking a law, LUPD has no say in the matter. If you want it to change (and I hope you all do), please email JB from your LU email account. While you're at it, copy in the deans and the Chancellor's office. The students are doing an awesome job, and I really don't want to see the personal preferences of some reserved folks get in the way of that.

I mentioned how we did not have a punt until the 4th quarter...that was our only punt of the entire game. Every other possession ended with a turnover or a score (5 TDs and 1 field goal, one missed PAT)

My time to rant a little bit. Please don't take this as whining, just a little soapbox type deal.

I loved the promotions for this week. It got kids out to the games and they were great. I just hate how the kids who just showed up because they were told to and know nothing about our team or the team we're playing start bossing around the "regulars" and the kids who are there all of the time. Like I said earlier, we had our seats stolen by a brother/sister dorm and it was obvious that half of the kids that were there rarely ever went to the games and they stole seats from kids that are normally there. The same was said for where Dallas and his group normally sits. It was easy to tell they weren't "regulars" either, but they were a brother and sister dorm that wanted to have school spirit. I can say the same thing for the tailgate competition and the competition to win the Wii's. I understand why it happens, I just wish the kids that were there on a regular basis being enthusiastic, and those tailgating on a regular basis could be rewarded in some way. Dallas and his group deserve something. The 5-6 guys down from where we are that are always at games and painted deserve something. Postman, Dickens, and the people with me can tell you that every game, we can look around and see the regulars in the same spot each week. It's just unfortunate that the "regulars" get pushed out of their spots and don't get chances to win cash prizes or Nintendo's, etc. Once again, I understand it completely and know why it happens. (Please don't think I'm whining about not getting a Wii because I couldn't care less. I was just pointing out something I noticed.)

of course it made us get louder. i told the officer it was a travesty. i looked him square in the eyes and said "if you think i am not going to scream my lungs out when the players are a few feet away trying to hear from their coach, get a life".

they also told the guys to put me down during pushups after we scored, but i screamed "keep going".

LUPD doesn't have the authority to remove someone from the stands unless they break the law.

i feel for the PL who got written up. and if it was possible, i'd take his reps for him.

my RA last year and my RD as well were down front with us at virtually every game, and applauded us for keeping it clean. at the same time we had other RA's coming down to tell us we were "wrong", "not Christian", "not worshipping God with our comments" and more. Man I hate that about Liberty. we are so close, but it's going to take major changes to put us where we need to be.

all of that said - i absolutely love what JB and the team at the AD are doing. they are supportive ALL the time.

I went through my usual routine (high fives along the student side as I m going to help the percussion get ready...btw that last part of the 2nd quarter felt like it took a lot longer), and really some folks didn't look like they knew what I was doing...course SJ and hsi boys knew what was up, as did the boys from Dorm 7. Im hoping that next weekend I am going to go from one side of the student section to the other (instead of just starting to the left of the band)

SJ: Thanks for the props, and just to let you we did end up winning 2nd place in the tailgating competition, so we did get something, but I told the judges when they came by that the difference between us and the other groups was that we were out here last week, and we'll be out here next week, regardless of whether they offer a cash prize or not. For us, it's not about money, it's about supporting our school the only way we know how. Thankfully, we will spend the prize money on a new grill, and anything that's left will go to cover the cost of food for next week against VMI.

I couldn't agree with you more about the seats, and that's something I mentioned to the judges. I told them that it's tough for us because as much as we love to tailgate and hang out, we have to cut it short each week because we have to go into the stadium an hour early to get seats. As much as I was dissapointed that we wouldn't be on the front row (where we've been for the last two years) I did have a blast behind the Coastal fans.

a very nice effort saturday. i arrived right before halftime after the trip back from UVA and stood at the top of the baptist side and was so impressed with the student side. the o-line paved the way for rashad and brock played very well. it is very nice to beat coastal and stay on pace to win the big south. i did tape the game and MASN did a good job other than pronouncing rashad's name wrong and one time saying we were in the SOCON. they said how they liked the camous and even had a shot of Jr. sitting in his box. im lookign forward to the last home game next week!

The students were AWESOME!!!!! I hate Police brutality, thell them to go to Dunkin Donuts or something productive and stay away from the games if they can't do better. As for the fans/players of other teams keep it clean but keep up the harassment and tell the LU kids who have a problem with it, to go play in the middle of Wards road, or go hand out tracts on the Parkway. Usually their type end up doing nothing productive in life anyway.

Boy I feel better now. :D

Exactly. Me, too and as an alumni observing from afar, I agree, they are almost there. Once these remnants are sifted out, the school will be without the "brakes" or for a literary allusion, the "albatross" as they move the university and athletics experience to new heights.

As another side note...When I finished high fiving the student side and arrived to help get ready for the halftime show...I actually had somebody ask if anyone had a problem with what I was doing. Umm, why would anyone have a problem with somebody high fiving the student side...field crew are supposed to be ambassadors for the marching band to the students and that means interacting with them.

So I still havent gotten all the paint off yet....

Team looked good, really on just about everything.
The Redd hit where #9 was going out of bounds, well his last foot step before the hit was inbounds, so idk.
Penalties are bad
Jon can graduate(although I dont think he should)
Honestly, the crowd was amazing, Im not sure how many things Jon actually started, he never needed to.
With the seats thing, Jon for future reference I have no problem sitting there 2 hours before to keep us at the 50. It is kinda not cool but at the same point just because they arent regulars doesnt mean theyre not allowed(bro sis dorm is terrible though). Im not saying its not dumb, but were gonna have to just deal with it and make some adjustments.

LOL@ that comment. LUPD can pretty much do whatever the heck they want. You're on private property.
