I just gave her my sweatshirt as well so we wouldn't leave early. I said we were being good stewards of our money by staying until the end since we paid for tickets. Of course her eating a frozen lemonade didn't help my cause.

You couldn't help but notice the number of students who left early and how bad that was going to look on TV.

I love the idea of the L-U chant being the precursor to the team coming out on the field. I think it should be quiet though (PA wise) and that the cheerleaders should, well, cheer -lead. Put half on the baptist side with L's and the other half on the student side with U's. As soon as the team hits the field the band can do their thing, but until then, they should be yelling too. Dr. Kerr should come up with some creative way to get them involved in the LU cheer as well. Let's say 17K do show up, and we can make this happen. Holy crap that would be sick.
I have to say I got a little ticked at the PA, I think the crowd would have done a much better job if he would have let them just do it. It also felt stupid to be jumping up and down, just because you were told to. Grant it I sit on the "Baptist" side, but still.

I was glad to see that the band was wearing red instead of the teal that they had been wearing. It was pretty cool to see a sea of red over the entire student section.

He would be very pleased at the end of the night. Trust me, speaking for the few women around here I think we would all appreciate a little effort to be shown how important we are to the men in our lives.

OK, I think I have made my point. :beatinghorse
hey- I let her cook and clean, every day in fact.

I was very disappointed with how many people left on both sides of the stadium. We were there until the very last play and we have a two year old, in my book there are no excuses for leaving early unless you absolutely have no other way out... or the previously mentioned reasons :)

But as it gets colder I will probably use the baby as an excuse to leave early. As a mother I have to be looking out for the well being of my child

First off, Champ was a DB, not a RB. Second, he's not even on the team. Third, like I said earlier, it was Julian running.

I was fine in a long-sleeved t-shirt, but when it came to the woman, I just nodded my head and said "Okay. Uh huh." and that sort of thing.
I was in shorts and a t-shirt and sandals and I was fine.

speaking of things that went right last Sat nite, I didn't hear Kent Hicks' name mentioned - and I think that's a GOOD thing.

BTW - I'm not sure if it's been mentioned but Vince made one sick tackle in the 1st quarter. It was the one where he was blocked fairly well by a lineman only to one arm the RB and trrow him down. Dude is a beast.

Medic I can back you up

Went to a Jets Steelers game 30 degrees with 6 in' of snow - best football game Ive ever been to). Also had t shirt jersey and pants on and its freezing in the Meadowlands. And yes my favorite thing to do is go up top and hurl some snow down a level SOOOO MUCH FUN

d) you have a wife who starts whining in the first quarter to leave because she's cold
Manson, part of a husband's responsibilities is to take care of his wife if she agrees to come out to a football game. Here are a few suggestions to make the experience better for both of you:

(1) go to Dick's Sporting Goods & spend $5 on one of those inflatable seat cushions (they were perfectly for the red seats)
(2) buy your wife a nice dinner at the game (even if you miss seeing 2 TDs)--recommend the BBQ chicken sandwich
(3) every time a drink vender comes by, ask your wife if she wants another drink
(4) carry 2 jackets--one for you and one for your wife, and give her the hoodie to keep warm
(5) on especially cold nights, keep your wife filled with hot chocolate or coffee.
(6) bring a blanket on really cold nights
(7) make your wife a hot drink, once you get home and thank her (several times) for going to the game with you

SJ, for the record, the Cider family stayed for the last play and even missed the Rocco interview on the radio.
65 deg and you Southerners are whining about the cold, breaking out blankets and hot chocolate

FOOTBALL IS A COLD WEATHER SPORT LADIES!
Its even better when there's a delay so they can shovel the lines clear on the field, and you can plug the opponents (Cowboys, Giants or Redskins) with iceballs .

I've seen more games in 30-40 degree weather than 60-70 degrees. Where's H'BURG, ROCKET and JIM to back me up on this?

Pa-the-tic

:nono
Well said Medic, and Scorcho has me confused though....i don't remember any wind nor do i recall the temp being 40. I think the low for the night was like 43 or something. It was perfect football weather!

I stood on the sideline, and im telling you the dude was running his mouth the wide recivers all night. I mean i get it, if you want to talk smack in a close game....but up by 30+ points just leave the poor pathetic opponent alone and save some material.

We left during the fourth quarter since my kiddo was asleep in his stroller and the temp on the dashboard in my car said 48. I'm not saying that it was right (because I do sometimes question it), but that's all I had to go by. There wasn't any wind in the stadium, but my wife was pushing the aforementioned sleeping kiddo around in the stroller around the concourse area. There's always a breeze up there. I'm not saying it was freezing by any means because I was fine. But try convincing my wife of that.

Edit: Just checked here, and it was 54 degrees at 9:54 pm. My bad!

The weather was perfect for me, but I have a little extra weight than my wife does. She's always cold.

auntie ann wrote:this is the brock that I can tell you played in high school. I think we need confidence in one qb, he was very supportive of Spencer, but next week I think we need to just use Brock.
I doubt that will be the case at Toledo, but I'm sure it will depend on how the game is progressing. I think we'll see both Spencer and Zach at QB again. Spencer, so that he can get some more game time experience against a higher level of competition, and throw a little Zach Terrell in there to spice things up a little. Did you see Zach on the QB draw for 75 yards?? That was SWEEET!!

That was the coolest play, I love when they have some razzle/dazzle. I know I just would like to see Brock be able to show some good numbers. I feel like the starting qb is Brock, and if he is playing well, he deserves he playing time. I have a vested interest I know, but I do not think other teams take out the starting guy as soon as things dont go perfect.. I mean it has a lot to do with other guys on the field doing the jobs they have to do also.. Brock has the tools, and he should not be denied the chance to use them.......................

Brock is definitely the starter and he has gotten the playing time of a starting QB in EVERY game. Even in the games he didn't do well in, he never got benched--not even after that horrible first half down at Elon.... I think the coaching staff has continually shown their faith in him as both a player and a leader of the team, so his confidence level should definitely be high.

If it's a close game I expect to see Brock playing the entire game, but I have a feeling that we'll get the best of the Toledo defense and by the 4th quarter, we should be able to give Spencer a chance to develop a little more before we get into Big South play.

Virginia Tech to name one and last year Arkansas as well as tons of other teams do this.... Side note Willie Randolph left Tom Glavine in, giving up 5 runs up in the first in the most important game of the year.

This is his second year starting, hes not getting a raw deal by any means. If you look at this year as well as last years meaningful games(there are 11 of them BSC, WF, Towson, SSU, Weat Carolina, W+M x2, Elon) He has 9 TD passes. This year in meaningful games he has more picks than TD's. Its not like its his first game and he had a rough outing. He has been inconsistent for a year and a half, not one game. I hope hes on track, I really do. But hes not being denied anything if
he loses the job
