I didn't really care about any of this...we lost...it sucked...I actually predicted before the season started we would lose....but when you come on here and call us classless for being upset for a loss, what do you expect to happen??

you are the classless one here...

William and Mary won...they are better then people were giving them credit for...

we didn't play up to our potential...

a lot of things went wrong....we didn't deserve to win

with that said....you have by far been the classless one in this whole discussion.....but heaven forbid you admit that

More lack of class. Look at the situation for the last scoring drive at VMI. Third and fourth string tailbacks carrying the ball. Phillips and most starters did not play in the second half.

The jerks reside here.

Sour grapes a-holes.
Going for it on 4th & 2 at midfield in the 4th quarter when you're up by 39. I dare you to defend that one.
It wasn't 4th and 2. It was 4th and about a foot.

I promise you this...if we would have won, we would've jumped on your crappy board and said good game....not talk about how classless you guys are....

His comment was simply the truth. Liberty has greatly enhanced their team with transfers. He made no judgement on that...it's just the truth.

If you feel defensive about it, that's not his problem. If you think he's a moronic jerk, well....
like your team doesn't get transfers too

That makes it better? The point is that he went for it. The game was out of reach and nearly over. There's no reason to do that other than to show the other team up.

Hey! Respect your elders. You know our fans gave up Matlock to be there for a night game. A night game! Geritol wears off after 12 hours. You try to root for a team for more than two quarters without tapioca pudding!

There was a polo match? Where? Maybe they played defense over there.
That's good Magnolia  Got me to chuckle on that one. Matlock? That was a good show man. 8)

Potts and Viola are 3rd-stringers? News to me. This isn't green players getting reps--this is a team trying to score. They threw the ball everywhere, up 42-10. They threw to convert 3rd downs up 49-16 and up 56-16.

Contrast this with Matthews at JMU last night; didn't put in the air once at 45-17.

But that's Laycock for you. Don't expect any quarter when you schedule him. It'd be nice to think that Beamer would give him a dose of his own stuff this Saturday, but Frank doesn't run it up on people, either.

BTW, here's the list of insults I heard from W&M fans last night:
"Conservatism sucks. We hate bigots!"

"Liberty sucks"

"Jerrr--ie Fallll-welll!"
Glad I'm not "classy".

Viola is third string. Potts is second, but was third until Archer was moved to WR. Duh JMU didn't put it in the air, they throw about as much as VMI does anyway.

I wasn't at the game. I expected a high scoring close game against a vastly improved LU squad and that's exactly what unfolded. You guys should be proud of your team's effort and I honestly believe you will win the Big South.

As for the refs, they didn't win or lose the game. Sounds like they made some questionable calls both ways, but both teams had chances to win the game.

Sorry a few of our fans made some crude remarks regarding Falwell. However, every school has a few bad apples, especially when yor talking about imature students. I think the majority of fans from LU and WM are classy folk.

As for the series, it has grown on me the past two years. Its nice to have a team come to Zable that brings such fan support. However, T4SF is right, we have only one open schedule spot for year and need to spread it around. I would be all for revisiting this series somewhere down the road though.

WM and Laycock did not run up the score on VMI. Going for a short fourth is not running up the score. It was done to maintain possession at that point in the game. We played second and third stringers virtually the entire second half and generally throttled back the offensive playcalling. The players still play their hardest and you wouldn't expect any less from your reserves. You can't blame WM for VMI's inability to stop our reserves from scoring even with vanilla playcalling.

WM currently has one scholarship transfer on the entire roster. Not a value statement, just a statement of fact. Again, don't get made at JL because he makes a factual statement. Is it not true that LU's vast improvement over this season is in LARGE part due the transfers?

Thanks for a great game and good luck the rest the way.

Viola is a regular. He was playing early in the 2nd quarter last night. He played in the first quarter in Lexington last week. He's not the scrub you're implying he is.

And JMU threw for 184 yards last night, including two TD passes.

Duh, indeed.

Looks like im the first from Jon's crew to put some notes up

In no order

1) Brock Smith cannot run an offense. There is NO confidence in him from Rocco. Brock really never showed any reason to be confident in him. You guys say "Oh well fourth quarter dotdotdot." Here's what I saw from him:
- Never could hit target over ten yards
- Consistently made bad decisions
- Misses that freaking RB Flat throw EVERY TIME
- 3rd Down, inside the 5, NO ONE IS OPEN, so THROW IT AWAY!!! We lose 3 points there
- Only time he was good was in the shotgun - either dual backs or just Terrell.
- Missed Brandon Turner about 20 yards upfield by about 5 feet(INT in the 4th quarter)

2) Running the ball - 80% plays on first downs were "Rashad Jennings to the left." Zach looked good in the beginning and then wasnt around? Running the ball wasnt terrible, but was hard when they KNEW what was coming, mostly due to the play of 13.

3) Wynton Jackson didnt touch the ball until fourth quarter. WHY?!?!?! I remember one drop from Wynton in the fourth but for the most part they just ran an inside slant, so either they caught it of W+M got an interference call(most of them were good calls you see shirt grabbing and thats it)

4) Offensive Line killed SO MANY DRIVES in the red zone. TOO MANY FASLE STARTS

5) D Line never put significant pressure on Phillips. I say significant because Phillips knew how to buy time and had enough speed to get out of the pocket when needed. Never stopped the run late in the game, pretty much just got beat here.

6) I knew the second drive second play when the TE ran an out and Vince followed leaving the WR open we were in trouble. Not enough help to the struggling DL. That Cover 2 area above them and below the safety ABSOLUTELY KILLED US. LB's always got beat in the pass. Redd was absent from the game.

7) Our corners are UHOH. They cant tackle, Kent Hicks is a freaking bum, but his backups cant play so were stuck. Safetys played TOO SOFT - not hitting wise, but they either got beat in the corner by the TE or the TE slipped in underneath them. Too many missed opportunities.

8) Special Teams looked good, we never started a drive below our 35.

9) Refs - never got the spots, but were not supposed to. Hail Mary? If it happened it happened and thats that. They werent good but We did little to show we deserved that game.

10) Coaching - This IMO is where we lost the game. Heres why:
- Too predictable - We ran number 3 to one side all night
- Never took chances in the air(probably more Brock's inability to throw deep - We had 1 throw over 15yds, INT)
- Made BAD 3rd quarter calls in the redzone(The one Im thinkin of was a 4th and 2 at the WM 20, in the 3rd qtr)
- SOme will disagree with that but unless in the 4th quarter of K problems you take points
- That brings us to the Brock INT in the endzone.
- YOU DONT ROLLOUT THE QB IN THE ENDZONE BECAUSE IT PUTS EVERYBODY IN ONE SPOT
- Never made adjustments, ever - We got beat cover 2 all night, we never moved, and the few plays we ran man coverage we stopped them. We had the athletes, we need to make a change there. We ran the same play over and over and over.
- Our playbook on Offense had 2 plays - Jennings to the left side, and All slants.

11) Simply put we never made the big play
- INT drops One in OT
- 4th and 2 in OT for W+M
- 4th and 1 int OT for LU

12) JEFF BARBER is God's greatest gift to LU

13) Jon paid 8 bucks at KFC and didnt get macaroni??? You gotta be kidding

and I don't have that many things to say.

I agree with all of them, but I just don't have anything to say...

There were a ton of little plays, that could have gone our way, and would've changed the game.

We didn't do what we needed to do to win.

Mo. He was second string last night because Courtland Marriner was out. He got significant PT also because DeBrian Holmes is out for a good while. He is 3rd string and only played in short yardage situations prior.

JMU had 9 second half passes vs. VMI. W&M had 6 second half pass attempts vs. VMI. If you say that's because the game was closer in the second half for JMU, their second string QB attempted 6 passes, same as W&M, 4 of which were in the 4th Q. The Tribe had 2 pass attempts in the 4th quarter.

It was not me that was staring at her. It was the other two. I was staring at students.

On a side note, what the heck is up with W&M being so friggin expensive? $23 for a ticket? Then parking, then $3 for a drink? Holy crap, who are you, Wake Forest? Wake tickets were $26 last year.

It was friggin ridiculous. At least have a student discount or something. We had kids get there and almost turn around because they couldn't afford the tickets.
