How do we all feel about the team with Bush and Hardy leaving? I still like our LB group, but I’m now mildly worried about the DL, and I was already quite concerned about the CB room. Someone want to make me feel better about this?

Losing Bush sucks for sure. It's not like he dominated games in the way Durrell Johnson did, but he was solid and reliable for his role. We have some decent depth at DE though with Bryson Jennings (formerly UNC) and Brenton Williams (Auburn). Both of those guys are taller than TJ Bush, with Brenton being about the same weight. Behind them there will be some unknowns, so I'd imagine we pick up a DE in the portal. On the interior, I wasn't as worried about losing Boti, but Hardy is a bit different. He had some health issues after getting illegally chop blocked in the NMSU game last year. That play was dirty and was uncalled by the Ref (CUSA... go figure). In his place, Mike Jarvis played a good number of snaps, as did Eliyt Nairne (who is now gone). I think right now, the likely 2-deep is: 1) Bryce Dixon, 2) Mike Jarvis, 3) DJ Jackson (transfer from NC St), and 4) Marcus Clark (App St transfer).

I think our CBs will be improved this year. We return Mo Williams and Dexter Ricks who both played a lot last year, and Christian Bodnar comes back healthy. Elijah Hopkins comes back from an injury, and I'm pretty sure the staff was high on his ability to contribute last year up until that point. I'm sure we'll still look for opportunities for upgrades, but I think DL will be a bigger focus.

Our top needs as I see it are:
1) OL
2) DL
3) DB/CB

Why didn't he play more for the Boilermakers?
No idea, but you have to believe there is potential there, and he has 3 years of eligibility.
Purdue had one of the worst defenses in the country last year and easily the worst defense in the big ten. The fact that he couldn’t break into the 2 deep there speaks volumes. If he provides any production at all for us I’ll be pleasantly surprised.
