This isn't totally out of left field. I'd say Liberty, with its play against 3 ACC schools, has the more impressive resume currently, even with a 1 point loss to NC State. What Coastal has in breadth (their average opponent is better across the schedule) we make up for with depth (3 ACC schools).

Chad Staggs is too good for that to happen. To me, he’s the most impressive thing about that team. It’s similar to us and our offense getting the credit but our defense being what’s truly impressive. That dude might be the best defensive coordinator we face this year.

I watched the App State game and was not impressed. If that game was a true representation of their team, we're going to run all over their front 7. But I'm not putting too much weight into a single game's performance.

If it were at Liberty I think she’d be high on the list. Being at Coastal though, it’ll be someone Coastal related (ie Dustin Johnson). One of the Coastal guys suggested Marty and McGee do it which would be incredible.

Liberty22 wrote: November 30th, 2020, 9:38 pm Some Coastal fans really think Gameday being there has nothing to do with Liberty. They think it’s only because of them. Here I thought we were delusional
Edited that one.

Just like we have some fans who say less than intelligent things, so do theirs.

Delusion is what makes fandom fun for some.

I clarify that not because of my past at Coastal but more because I don’t want people lumping me in with the likes of ballcoach.

I can't speak for every Coastal fan, but I for one don't feel super welcome over here. You can thank a couple of your admins for that.

That said, looking forward to a good game. Go Chants!

Wins over two FBS teams (North Alabama and Western Carolina)
Five wins over winless teams
One win against a one win team
One win against a two win team
One game against a team with a winning record...they lost that one.

In the win over 0-5 FIU, the score was 36-34. Against 2-7 Southern Miss, the score was 36-35. Liberty was Western Carolina’s first game one month ago. They are 2-1 against the ACC but the two wins are against 1-9 Syracuse and 4-5 Virginia Tech.

Virginia Tech has lost three straight. The Flames have only shut out one team, UMass last week. UMass is 0-4. They gave up a TD against North Alabama an 0-4 FBS team.

This is Liberty.

While you’re not wrong, the facts remain we won those games. Just as we don’t get extra credit for only losing by one to NC State, we don’t lose credit for having close games against bad teams. At the end of the day, a win is a win.

And if we’re comparing resumes, that 1-9 Syracuse team still has one more win than Kansas. Virginia Tech is also rated higher than both App and Louisiana.

The bottom end of our schedule is absolute garbage. There’s no getting around that. Coastal’s overall schedule is better than what we’ve played this year. But our top end is better than the top end Coastal has played, and we won two of those three games.

To try and diminish either side this year based on their schedule is just a waste of time. These are the best teams either program has ever had and each side is massively out performing expectations. It’s going to be a really, really good game on Saturday and we will be lucky to win if we do.

We are light years better than were when we played those first 3 games. Night and day

I'm not sure who you are referencing but I'm the board admin and love having you guys over here. Sorry you haven't felt welcome but I think you will find most of us are pretty nice people. There are a couple you'll need go ignore and you'll quickly discover who.

With that said.

Coastal should be the favorite. No doubt about it but nothing Coastal has done has made this look like an impossible task for LU. This will be a very competitive game and probably the most entertaining we have seen all year.

It is going to be fun.

It’s not like the Beach Chickens have faced the SEC West. Or East. I’ve pointed out the lack of success the teams LU has played have had had
Saturday we have 2 Teams playing with good records gained against bad teams. We will just see who played the better bad teams

Game Day is absolutely coming to Coastal because we're us. If Liberty was as big of a deal as you thought you were, they'd already been there. We've been featured on Game Day twice this year, been a part of the picks segment, had our mascot in Corso's house, been a regular on Marty and McGee, had Marty on our sidelines at the last home game, and I haven't seen one mention of Liberty except for them to do a spot on Hugh Freeze and his hiring of escorts at Ole Miss. That's what we bring to the table and that's what you bring to the table.

And if Liberty were sitting at 7-3 there’s no way Gameday would be at the game this weekend.

No one says Coastal hasn’t done their part, but only a dummy or an in-character fan trolling on a message board would claim this has nothing to do with Liberty.

If LU wasn't ranked there is no way gameday would be there. Coastal has absolutely done their part and deserve all the national attention they have been getting but thinking LU's early FBS success (and top 25 ranking) has nothing to do with it is disingenuous at best.
