If Willis misses significant time, the Ferguson transfer could be huge for our season viability. Very unfortunate for Willis, prayers up for him. Luckily, we play North Alabama next week, so we can adjust to a different offensive style if necessary. Happy to see a win, wasn't pretty, but a win is a win.

FIU outplayed us other then their stupid penalties. They'll give a lot of people fits.

Our defense is a work in progress which is what most expected this year. Which is why i was so surprised with their performance last week.

We have got to get better in the red zone. I'm all for creativity but we tried to get way too cute in the red zone. I'm sure HF will agree.

It is debatable. We shot ourselves in the foot in the red zone a bit and they shot themselves in the foot with stupid penalties. We won by 2 points and it was pretty evenly played. I can see where you are coming from for sure though but it felt like they could've been beating us, especially in the 2nd half, if it weren't for those penalties.

Im with Jon on this one. I listened to the radio call and while this game gave me indigestion at times, we easily could have won by 2+ touchdowns. FIU is gonna be a good team, but today, even without the penalties, I think LU was the better team on the field.

I'm sure it's the size of the plane. I believe the "jets" at Lynchburg only have 60 or so seats.
I highly doubt that's the case. Our team has been flying out of Lynchburg since at least 2009.

Liberty flies a chartered 737 for their away games, so it's not a matter of the size of the plane.

FIU likely stayed in a hotel in Roanoke and skipped the walkthrough on Friday, so it makes sense to fly in to Roanoke. Syracuse did the same last year. IIRC Syracuse was concerned about having a hotel in town big enough for them that was also far enough from campus that they wouldn't have to worry about being bothered or heckled by LU students while they were here.

I was wondering if that was the case. An A320 would have no problem in Lynchburg... Our runway is a tad longer than Roanoke's. Teams would often stay at the Holiday Inn downtown, but it seems to be mostly closed and is not part of any reservation system. That is a good bit of revenue the city loses when teams have to stay in Roanoke. It isn't as if a team playing UVa needs to stay in Richmond or Lynchburg.

Guys, there is a size restriction. I posted the below because I know for a fact this was the case. The runway in Lynchburg is small. Though once upon a time there were rumors of an extension.

thepostman wrote: September 26th, 2020, 7:04 pm There is a size limit which is why Trump had to bring the small plane when he flew in to speak at graduation but I don't know what the size limit is.

The extension was finished several years ago. The runway at LYH is the longest commercial runway west of Richmond.. by 100 feet. There could be a weight limit, but the only airplanes that wouldn't be able to land would be some larger heavies. I have seen A320s, 737s, 727s, 757s, DC9s and the occasional C17 land here; this info is readily available at AirNav if you doubt!

2 and 0 against CUSA is outstanding. Plenty to critique but there is something to say about winning the games. We really hurt ourselves on special teams the most. Missed another chip shot, punts weren't great, kick coverage was terrible and they made no adjustments. They basically bunched everybody up on the east side and tried to get the returner in a foot race against our guys which they knew he would win and he did repeatedly.

Defensively, were young at corner, not deep at DT (huge dropoff after Rusins & James), & large dropoff at LB behind Butler, Pierre & Dupree. I think Kidd-Glass would really help if we get him back in there as well. I noticed we used Lewis inside a bit and i think i would do that more. He's bulked up so much i think he can handle it. I think defensively is most depth and youth issues. Mitchell & Steele would have really helped. As would Clark.,

Offensively, i'm worried about the WR corp. Noah and CJ are the only guys with size and they can't stay upright.

I really hope Malik is healthy because I think 7 and 3 is possible with him and maybe even a long shot at 8 and 2.

AF1 is extremely heavy so that may have been why it couldn't land there. I just know it couldn't so they brought the smaller plane and people were bummed.

Anyways. Who knows why they didn't land there. Maybe it was somehow cheaper.
