Just a couple of bullet point thoughts for tonight.
- Calvert has had a lot of easy throws tonight (screens, slants...etc), but he's had a bunch of very difficult plays and has made all of them. I've never questioned his talent, but the level of command that he's had in the pocket and the decision making has been incredible today.
- As great as the offense has been tonight, we do need to all realize that the Big12 is notoriously terrible defensively and Baylor has one of the worst defenses in the conference.
- The best part about the offense is that this has been a fantastic gameplan. We have been on attack mode since the first snap. Gill and the staff have flat out out-coached Rhule tonight. That's a huge plus. This is easily Gill's most impressive game...even if we don't hang on.
- I am seeing some questions on defense but we do need to understand that this Baylor offense has playmakers. We have gone with a very aggressive gameplan. At times, that has paid dividends, at other times it's cost us. It's actually the right strategy. Do keep in mind that we won't face an offense this talented and this hyper-aggressive gameplan probably won't be the norm. So, I'm not sure the issues there will be consistent through the season.
Really great game today. We're cheering like crazy.
