Parker quitting probably means McConnell will be the #1 at the slot receiver position I would think

Parker was one of the names we were given back in the spring of a potential transfer. We were never able to confirm it at that point.

What's the deal with the funky helmets? Is that a padded liner that goes over the regular helmet?

I know in previous years TG has had a Hardline no hitting rule for practices. The additional padding makes me think he may be coming off that. There weren't any pictures of hitting in the gallery, but it could be how they implement it this year.

Another possibility is that they are weighted to condition neck strength like a donut in baseball.

I think one said "Guardian" on it so I'll do some research.

If were at 75 schollies we have given about 15 to walk ons. Also we have absolutely no depth at DT and juco trey franklin is no longer listed. What a whiff by the staff not to address that this summer.

I don't disagree that DL (especially DT) should have been.handled better jonxy, but something clearly happened this summer to Franklin from the time he committed/signed until now. Manson...think you could look into it?

Very disappointed with the lack of Ol and DL depth. After all, that is where the games are won and lost. If some of the young guys don't step up, it will be very ugly when we start playing a FBS schedule. It's not like we haven't known this has been an area of weakness for some time.

Totally agree. I have to think there is something HCTG sees that may not be readily evident in just the roster and recruiting. Perhaps there is untapped potential in the present young ranks; but if the trend from the past two years continues...that's concerning on several levels. Like you said, it's not something that just recently developed, and not to be prepared for a third year is...well...I'll just say it is indicative of what has already been discussed at length in and out of this forum.

Correction, they are a protection device.

"The Guardian™ is a soft shell helmet cover that can be snapped onto the face mask of a helmet and can absorb up to 33% of the impact in a collision."

They also assist with regulating temperature and also preserve helmets with less wear and tear.

That was the conclusion I also reached on examining the roster. Only about 58 of those players were recruited and signed as scholarship athletes. Now some of the former walkons (ie. Mosely, Isacson, Benton, Fitzgerald) have proven they can play and deserve scholarships. Maybe as many as 8 or 9, but not 17.

Franklin not showing up is a big blow. He signed his NLI, so his options to go elsewhere are limited. My best guess is he did not complete his Associate degree and thus did not qualify.

Agreed. I dont get why gill says 75. That just puts a target on our back. Totally inept roster management if you ask me. The DT position is just embarassing.

As it appears right now, the only solid, experienced DT we have is Avery, who is undersized at 270, but has great athleticism for a DT. We will be relying on a former OL, Storey, a former walk-on, Rusens, who was listed as a TE on the roster last year and a true FR Mitchell for pretty much all of the rest of the snaps. Not good. We don't know the full story on why Brown and Hamilton left, so I'm not so sure we should be blaming the staff there. Looks to me like Brown probably never should have been at Liberty, but he could play, and will be missed on the field. IMHO Hamilton was not that good, but would have given us another big body.

I expect he is saying it because we in fact have that many getting the $$$, but it certainly seems that some of the walk-ons who were given schollies are questionable as to being that calibre of player. It would be interesting to see a list of who is actually on scholarship right now, but I somehow doubt that will happen.

The slot was going to be king or stubbs anyway. Stubbs is the best the question is whether to redshirt him or not. If we play him he we will start and return kicks guaranteed.

I definitely would have him in the kick return rotation...him and Hickson would be outstanding.
