Also - North Alabama is 18th in D2. They'd beat Jacksonville by 20+.
OK, I just read that whole thing Nice job by the JSU poster, but I fail to see how you would think it supports your position Doesn't matter anyway The numbers I am thinking about are on the scoreboard Even if N Alabama is 20 points better than Jacksonville, that 31-12 win is meh, and I will say right now that unless JSU plays significantly better than they did against Coastal, we will win by 2 scores I'm sure they have better games in them, as do we

#3 vs. #49 in FCS poll - JSU fans are expecting a "blow out". Yes they beat CCU by 1 but CCU was ranked #17. Once again we are #49. Just the same it would be nice to disappoint them on their visit here.

We are "ranked" #49 and we haven't played a single game against a FCS scholarship team That ranking means nothing, and I don't believe for one second there are 48 FCS teams better than we are JSU is ranked where they are because they started out high based on last year and haven't lost (except to LSU) They haven't done anything this year that would merit that ranking, but that's the way it is with polls in the early season

I really don't care what the JSU fans expect, but they should look at what we have done the last 2 times we played Coastal with Ross (3 year starter and 2 time conference POY) at QB as opposed to this year's 4th stringer

I DO care what the JSU players and coaches are expecting, and if it is a blowout, they very well could get it, with them on the short end I believe they know they have their work cut out for them, and I expect a great game

I believe 3, all draws, with limited results We also have run the option about 6 or 7 times, but he pitched it every time, and we actually had some pretty good gains on some of them That is the total extent to which we have used the running ability of our "dual threat" QB

Good observations oldflame on not having played a FCS scholarship team . I did not realize that. Every season we lose a game we should win. Hopefully for this season that game was the SMU game. I will be very disappointed if we lose again this season.

I'm not sure I would call 7-9 yard gains "limited results". That is success for a running play. Good things happen when Masha has run the QB draw. The option has also been successful and Masha seems to know exactly when to pitch the ball. However, running the QB draw once a game and running the option 3-4 times a game doesn't do anyone much good for sustained success. Maybe that changes moving forward.

Totally agree. And Masha clearly has the size to take hits. Still confused why we haven't used him to the level we could/should. Keeping our cards close to our chest through the first 3 games doesn't make sense, if that's the strategy. Too many question marks, not enough time, not enough live action experience.

Considering that Gill was a QB who had no fear of running with the football himself, it's strange that he seems to want to put a tutu on his starting QB :queen Maybe if Calvert gets the start, he will be more inclined to utilize Masha as a runner off the bench

I was at VT and JU games. It wasn't as noticeable vs VT, but against JU, I noticed he wasn't being utilized with entire play book. Masha should gain 50 or more yards running every game, with his skill set.

I truly think they realize the only thing that matters this year is conference play and they are protecting everything to get there as healthy as possible. If they went 0-5 pre-conference they know they could still get to the playoffs.

I've thought this, but hope it's not true. Setting your team up to not fail is not setting up to your team for success.

It looks like JSU is an 8 point favorite. They haven't lost a regular season FCS game in 3 years and come in as the highest ranked opponent ever at Williams Stadium, and have arguably the best QB in FCS. Nevertheless, I am cautiously optimistic; that's why I predicted us winning 31-28 with our crowd getting us over the hump.

I'd like to see us utilize Hickson more along-side Macon/ Mosley, primarly in the slot. He has the hands since he returns kickoffs. But I really think we could give some defenses fits by putting him in motion a lot. That gives QB options to handoff up the middle, pitch out to Hickson on a sweep, or pass the ball (Hickson would still be a release valve on the pass option). If our new OL struggles a bit at first, plays like this may help freeze them in place. Back to the armchair...

JSU's QB Jenkins is a likely All-American and he has been running the read option and carrying the ball over 15 times a game There is no reason to even recruit dual threat QBs if you are afraid to let them carry the ball

Just one more thing and I'm done Some of the hardest hits you will ever see are taken by QBs dropping back to pass

Need help. Wife wants to know if she can take stadium seat into game. I know they rent seats but I couldn't find anywhere online stating if you could or couldn't take in your own. Can we take one in?

I read somewhere you can take them as long as they do not have a zipper or pockets. Mine had both so I picked up some new one from Dicks yesterday. They had a twofer sale on them.
