The only firing I would call undeserved and/or ugly was Morgan Hout. He was the best football coach that LU ever had, in my opinion.
I know why it was done and Jerry Sr. was in a bad spot when he had to make that decision. The good thing is, the university has been good to him in the last many years and tried to make up for it.
He is a better man than he was a coach, which says a whole lot to me.

She's in full on Ashley Dunton mode.
SJ, doesn't look like these posts are made from the official football site. Did she make tweets from there during this game that you know of?

I wanted to actually respond to some of these tweets. This is serious me, not trolling me.

I'm sorry you feel this is disrespectful. And yes, I'm sure there were things said that were disrespectful. Fans are passionate and react out of emotion. I'm guilty of it myself.

With that said, that comes with the position. When you're paid a ton of money and are a public figure, people are going to be outspoken when you're having poor results.
Image
I'm glad you'll stand by the team. And I'm glad you think they're better than their win-loss record. Here's the thing: so do I. So does everyone. That's why we're so emotional and outspoken about how this team has done. They're loaded at most positions and are vastly underperforming.
Image
I'm sorry, but Montana and Georgia State were no historic wins. They were great wins, but they were not historic.

Montana was #8 in the country when they came here. Coastal was ranked #1 in the country in 2014. Stony Brook was #6 in 2012. Both of those teams were ranked higher than Montana.

As for Georgia State, it was not historic either. It was a very good win because it was an FBS win, but every FBS win we've had before that one was a better win than Georgia State.
Image
Playing four teams after their bye week isn't something we control. That was simply luck of the draw.

Playing two FBS teams is great. That is to be commended. That's a directive from the Athletic Director though, not your father. He wanted to play multiple Division II schools his first couple years here.

Lastly, playing four straight road games wasn't by choice. We were forced to do that because JMU canceled and we couldn't get a home game for that date. We didn't go out and want to play four road games. We did what we had to do.
Image
This is your weakest argument. We are fans, not cheerleaders. Fans support their teams by being vocal when things aren't going well. If we didn't support them, we would disappear and say nothing. We're passionate, emotional, and vocal because we are such strong fans of the team.

The fact that we have fans that care enough to follow the team as closely as they do is the reason we can get 20,000 people into the stands and is why we can pay a head coach over $500,000. If you don't want passionate fans, Liberty is not the school for you and North Greenville would be a better fit.

I never said she posted them from official accounts. I'm sorry if that wasn't clear. I said she's been retweeted and endorsed by official accounts before which makes her different than a normal fan.

Thanks, I read it initially that she tweeted using the official LU football account. My bad. (I think I have it now).

It is Masha time. Josh contributed nothing to the first half! Except 2 tackles. no inspiration,no leadership, still cant run and is mechanical instead of instinctive. Plan for next year get the option going!

Everyone has said something about giving Masha a chance, even if only for a series. For whatever reason, we will not go away from Josh and refuse to put in Masha. That tells me one of two things:

1) There's absolutely no competition on that team and Josh knows no matter how bad he plays, he'll still be on the field.
2) Josh's worst is head and shoulders above Masha's best because Masha isn't very good.

Both of those scare me.

Well played. Might as well throw Mel Hankinson in there too.

Look at liberty's twitter tonight. 4 consecutive losses today. Monmouth, Gardner Webb, Coastal, and JMU. I guess money doesn't buy everything. No wonder the Sunbelt didn't want us. We think because we have money we deserve to move up. Meanwhile were losing on the field to Monmouth, Gardner webb, Coastal, and JMU today.

The second one is my concern. Gill has never been somewhere long enough to have a team full of only his recruits, so we don't know how well he actually does. He won at Buffalo in his 3rd year, he had his best season here so far in his 3rd year, and he didn't even get a 3rd year at Kansas. I'm really not sure if he can recruit enough talent or if he is best where he's got a mix of his own recruits plus holdovers.

What it says to me is one thing I know for FACT is that they NEVER wanted JW to have any competition, ever, because they wanted him to feel comfortable but in reality hurt the program because he was never forced to have to be better

I think both the QB recruits coming in will be very good, and I honestly think Mashable will find himself being the next Braxton Miller and playing WR which in reality he has wasted his time hikers in the mtn doing nothing

If you think that Abnar would have gotten any more yards than Rice or Macon yesterday you're fooling yourself. The o-line play is very bad. Marshawn Lynch would have a hard time rushing for a 100 yards a game with this O-line. The talent is pretty equal in the backfield, that's not the problem. Many people on this board are blaming Rice for not catching that pitch (which was clearly behind him) and saying he has bad hands. He caught several passes yesterday and was catching punts for goodness sakes so I'm pretty sure his hands are solid. Even if he catches that pitch there were two defenders in his face unblocked so he would not have gotten the first down anyways. Also the things people are saying about Josh Woodrum on this board is down right cold. It's ok to judge someone's play sure but don't attack one of our players character. People are so quick to down our players on this board it's insane and I'm not directing this part towards you Forbidden. These are 18-22 year old kids that work their butts off every year for their school. They are not professional athletes and should not be treated as such. This site is supposed to be for "Flame Fans" not for wanna be sports writers and individuals who think they could be a head coach of a Division 1 program. Obviously the season has not gone the way we wanted it to go and it's very disappointing to us all but how do you think the players who are actually going through it feel right now? More support and less criticism is what is needed.

I might as well put in my 2 cents since I have been on this board for a long time now but now keep a low profile due to others that are more knowledgeable about the program since they live in Lynchburg and I am 6 hours away.

I think the problem we have is our O LIne. It was a weakness last year and a bigger problem this year. I was at the Villanova game last year and it stuck out to me that Villanova was much better in the trenches than LU was and it was certainly the case with the JMU games prior to last year. The thing that offset that weakness was talented skill position players with speed. Abner, Pederson, Woodrum, Henderson, Shells, and so on. This year it is bigger problem due to departures and somewhat with graduations. I was at the Montana game and it seemed like the running back whether it was Rice or Abnar would get hit so often even before they had a chance at positive yards. If not for Abnar's long run the rushing yards would have been meager. We even struggled a bit on the OLine to lowly Delaware State. Going forward it will get even tougher since Rice is more of a "run between the tackles" kind of guy and not big enough to break tackles. Abnar at least has the speed to run around it. I still think that we have decent skill position players.
I never thought that I would see the day when we start to lose to Big South Bottom feeders especially with our budget, great facilities, and all this talk about FBS. Not looking forward to the rest of this season and next year is looking like a rebuilding project with what we have coming back.

I continue to maintain that Masha has not been given enough credit for what he did in his 2 games as a starter last year. Yes, he had some picks against Chuck South, but he threw 4 TD passes too, and the only reason we lost that game was because our defense got steamrollered by CSU´s run game. Then there was that other game when we beat the number one team in the country. His passing numbers were actually comparable to Woodrum´s last year and he obviously brings another dimension with his legs.

I do believe Woodrum has been given a pass for too long. It´s time for him to be as accountable as he wants others to be.

Not all fans are cheerleaders. Not all fans are :koolaid I'm sure the players work hard. They'd have to in order to play at the college level. They get offered a LOT of perks 'regular' students don't get. They put themselves out there and for better or worse will catch praise and criticism. It's the nature of the beast

I'm not telling you to be a "cheerleader." I'm not telling you that you don't have the right to your opinion or to be disappointed. However, there are better ways to go about it than some of the posts I've seen on this board recently. They obviously want to win, it just isn't going their way this year.
