Mid term goal I agree. But right now we are/should be in the Perrenial Play Off Power phase

Considering we've only been in the playoffs once, I agree with PH that making the playoffs consistently is the goal.

Our goal is not to be a top 24 program. Our goal is to be a top 15 program. If the playoffs were still 16 teams, I'd agree making the playoffs would be the goal. However, they've made it so much easier the past few years to make it that simply making it can't and shouldn't be the goal.

I'd take consistency as the goal. Right now the only thing consistent about Liberty is that we believe our own hype.

That's like a girl whose goal is to "consistently" be the bridesmaid rather than the bride. lol

You guys should be ashamed of yourselves.

Back in the day I was a big fan of several bridesmaids.

Again, it should be a goal on down the line but we are not there yet

That's right. Good 2 Great, as they say.

I'm all for the schedule being a bit tougher and am glad we don't have the schedules of 6-8 years ago.

Even then, people need to recognize that this team playing this schedule would be in the playoffs with 1 WTF game, whereas the teams of Rocco's days were doomed from the WTF game because they didn't have enough quality D1 wins to cement themselves as a contender.

If the goal is making the playoffs, this schedule does a better job of giving us an opportunity to do so.

You are continuing to miss my point, however. "The goal" shouldn't even be winning the playoffs. It should be players playing their best. Executing properly. Staying focused. X's & O's. Part of that requires that you play the best.

A close loss to a superior team should be much more meaningful to players than a big win over inferior competition.

And the playoffs have expanded. It's significantly easier to make it now than it was at 16 teams. I'm not making excuses for Rocco because we dropped games we shouldn't have. But we're giving Gill and out for missing the playoffs with a team full of seniors in skill positions.

Nothing is greater than your Romney Man Crush. With you, it ain't the RNC, it's the RMC.

As for "moral victories," you can call it what you want, but football shouldn't be pretty ponies and ice cream.

It should be obvious to all that President Romney would have done a whole lot better than President Obama

You can build success without a firm foundation. Alabama has that. LU does not

Nope

This. But less so. At least the number of convicted felons was lower

The other comparison would be with Karchers scheduling compared to this last couple of rounds of scheduling. It was much more difficult than Rocco with less talent (except at RB where we were LOADED) and resources. I am thinking, and could be wrong, it would be similar to what we have now But we have better talent and resources available. I think Karcher would have done better (slightly) with Rocco's schedule.
I think we are scheduling right at the level we need to be. Not too strong not too weak. Just the Program wide WTF games that no FB coach has been able to consistently overcome

Hell, if CSU could schedule an Alabama do you know what that game could do for a school like LU. Yea we take the L, but we could also score upwards of 17 - 21 pts, and use that for more exposure. imo

says whom, every game is matchups and there is NOTHING and I mean NOTHING that says that they can't other than the fact that a game is not scheduled. I'm def not going to say we can't score but you make it sound like we would be blanked. Even on our worst we could move the ball still and make a few plays, and there is again nothing that says Petey or DJ wouldn't break a tackle and score or JL hit a cpl of fg's, but to say we just couldn't is absurd, at least to me.
