Come on Yacht, that's an old Radford joke. :nono JMU deserves more respect than that.

No doubt about that. A perfect example is happening this weekend.

I'm the biggest LU band supporter there is...but I don't understand what the deal is...

Back when I was in the band...way back when...when we had a slim chance to make the playoffs in 97...we were told to be ready to come back if there was a playoff game.

We also went to 2 road games a year with no other commitments.

Look...even if 100 percent of the band cannot make it back...if 90 percent could...why not do it...you don't have to do the fieldshow...just be in the stands with whoever you have to play stand music and support the team?

You could take them to a developing country and give them away to the children in a village, and then allow yourself to be eaten by wild animals...seriously, whoever you are trying to impersonate me...go away...forever

Ok. full disclosure: I am a JMU grad and hold 2 master's degrees from LU and am currently working on my doctorate there. I am in Lburg most semesters for intensives, and my wife is a LU grad. I am impressed with the upgrade to facilities and all of the building projects. I am friends with several profs and admin who I believe are great folks. I have been disappointed at times with the leadership at JMU and felt like LU's admin has done a better job of vision casting in regard to athletics. I have attended a few athletic events at LU and sat in the LU section last time they were in Hburg. Here is my take: they are by far the least gracious, crudest, and most incorrigible fans next to Oduh. We love to talk some smack at JMU, and a few fans will cross the line at times. But LU fans whine at literally every call; their banter goes well beyond the game and becomes the stuff of a junior high locker room (bodily function smack talk type stuff, wich went over well with my wife and then middle school aged youngest daughter). They freely use the Lord's name in vain and simply make the game no fun. Perhaps I have simply been in proximity to the few bad apples, and I know there are some great people there. For these reasons, I do not intend to ever support LU athletics. Your fandom is the worst.

I will defer to sly and SJ to elaborate, but the bad apples you heard are not indicative of LU fans as a whole...and there are a lot of them

It sounds like your experience was next to some immature freshmen at one game. That is the polar oppositie impression we have heard from every other fanbase we have encountered. In fact, on the JMU board there are diehard Dukes fans who have actually stepped in to express their feelings about how great their impressions were of our fans even though they hate our school and everything it stands for.

I would encourage you to give our folks another chance. But I am sad that your first impression was so poor.

To make clear: by Lord's name I mean J.C. yelled out. But what was the funniest was hearing the adolescent acting LU dudes in front of us at the last LU @ JMU fb game shout out every lyric to "All I do is Win" by T Pain, Ludacris, Snoop, and Rick Ross. Hearing it on the sound system is one thing, but hearing them sing out "my verses still be serving- tight like a million ....." and "my hands go up and down, like strippers . . . " was sad and hilarious at the same time and also went over well with my girls. BTW, I finally stood up and confronted one of them half way through the game.

:BS

Of all the sporting events I've attended in my lifetime I'd say that LU fans are some of the most well behaved groups I've seen. As Sly said, even other schools often comment on the politeness of our fans.

I have a feeling we're being trolled but if you are judging the entirety of LU Athletics by the behavior of a couple of knuckleheads I'm not sure there is any program in the world you could support.

LU has the best behaved fans of any school in the country.

It wasn't a sporting event, but a couple years ago when Milt Romney spoke at LU Commencement, a Secret Service Agent told me, LU students were the best he had seen on a college campus.

There will always be an exception to the rule. But no one should base their opinion of the whole off of the exception. That would like basing your opinion of Christianity on the behavior of the Westboro Baptist Church.

The :flamingdevil is always looking for the best and the brightest. Consider this your official invitation to join our ranks!

Every call that goes against LU is seen as some form of bias and Religous persecution. Just look at the reaction to calls during games from some of our Administrators. Ask officials about what they hear, LU is not a fun environment to work.
Whining? A simple look at the selection thread will prove that AND the above point.
Our fans are well behaved and welcoming to other fans. Absolutely. As for 'behaved', that's up to interpretation. They don't throw things, vandalize or burn couches (which is a great tradition regardless) so we have that going for us. But as stated before, a lot of our fans are sophomoric and lack creativity.

I have seen calls by the Officials that make zero sense.

My favorite is , Rasheed Jennings laying in the end zone once, and the refs said he never crossed goal line.
