I'm with you Sigmo. Great post. Sometimes I log on and read a few lines and just shake my head as I sign off. Maybe, just maybe the reason they say some posters come on and comment only to never be heard from again is this...one doesn't have the expectation when they join a "fan" page to find so much negativity.
With that said, let the beatings continue.
What?!? You obviously don't visit a lot of fan pages. This group is super tame and super supportive. Of course if you are looking for a place where everyone agrees and thinks the same things then maybe fan sites aren't for you. Unless Westboro Baptist has their own site :D
Nope, don't expect everyone to agree with me, on here or even in life. But even you have to admit that some posters seem to never find anything positive to say. With some, even after a win there seems to have been something wrong in their eyes. Those are the head shaking times for me.

But hey, we had an 8-4 season in which we lost some close ones. No one blew us out. I got to attend 8 games in person and I enjoyed the season very much. I think our future is bright and I love what I see on our schedule next season with several away games close enough to attend. With that said, I move on to Peyton vs Brady.

This board is by far and away more positive than any other message college sport board out there. The only ones that are constantly negative are those people who only post rarely. The ones who post the most are far and away supportive. Disagreeing with call selection etc isn't being negative. It's being a fan

You're right. I'll go sit in a Time Out Study

I don't support everything we do, but I would rather look at the silver lining as opposed to the cloud. makes for a longer life I think.

:BS
And looking for the silver lining instead of looking where you are going is how you end up walking into the middle of the street and getting hit by a bus

Paul's probably one of them AND a member of the Illuminati to boot. Plus, an earlier poster said the head of the NCAA is an atheist so it must be true

My point in mentioning the silver lining is I try to find the positive in every negative instead of the negative in every positive. Yes we did miss the playoffs and miss out on another outright title but the team finished on a 5 game winning streak and rallied from two of the most gut wrenching losses in recent memory and did not allow more than 14 points to a division I offense the remainder of the year. yes the one who did was a D2 (although if the right call had been made OR the team had played to the whistle it would have been every team following the Coastal loss) but still it is a mark of a good team to grow from a negative circumstance.

There was a time when this would and should have been a big deal, but not now. I love what HCTG brings to the table and firmly believe this won't be an issue for us next year.[/quote]
I'll bite...what do you "like" and why do you "firmly believe?" I'm also assuming, in context, that this is a positive reference.

Despite your sarcasm postie, you know I'm right and its something we can pretty much all agree on. after the coastal game, the team would have been within its rights to say "Well that's it, the fans are right, we have nothing left to play for, lets just mail in the rest of these games, pack up and get ready for next year..." they do that, we probably win one more game and the anti-Gill crowd descends on the board and goes "see? see? he's doing it again, just like at his last two stops". everybody that posts here (and many who don't more than likely) remembers 2007 and 2008. Everybody that posts here remembers losing at stony brook in 09, and I could go on...many of these guys won't remember what some keyboard jockeys said on a message board in 5 years or in 5 minutes. what they will remember is the relationships that were forged in the fire of athletic competition and the memories all along their 4 or 5 (or occasionally 6) years in an LU uniform. they will remember how they banded together after the coastal loss and dominated everyone after that.they will remember how they won the last game of their careers, and they will remember the legacy that while it doesn't include an outright championship, does include victories on the field as they look to make an impact off the field in whatever their chosen career path (or on a new field if football is part of that new career).

Its positive in any context. I've said it several times that the job the staff did in keeping this team focused with really nothing left to play for was outstanding. A well coached team is most often better at the end of the season then the beginning of the season, which we have been in his 2 seasons. I like his persona and demeanor and think his Christian commitment is real and a core driving principle. I love the way he has handled sticky discipline situations.
As for next season I like the way players have developed, I like the recruits he brought in and I like the fact that the younger coaches and coordinators, as well as players, have had a year to develop. Next years schedule, for the first time in years IMO, fits the talent and experience. It is neither too difficult like the Karcher years nor too easy like the early Rocco years. UNC could be ugly, Brevard will be ugly, but in the opposite sense, App St and JMU will be great tests and the rest of our schedule should be winnable. There should be a sour taste in our mouths from this season that motivates us to finally get over the hump.

The Liberty University football team forced four turnovers and scored on seven of its first 10 drives, rolling to a convincing, conference-clinching 56-14 victory over No. 18/16 Charleston Southern, Saturday afternoon, at Buccaneer Field.

... Liberty shares the conference title with No. 11/7 Coastal Carolina, who finished up conference play last week with a 46-13 victory over Presbyterian College.

... Liberty claims its sixth Big South title in the last seven years, tying Coastal Carolina for the most titles in conference history. During the last seven years, Liberty has posted a 34-5 Big South record.

Hopefully this leads to the same upward trend we had the first three years under Rocco (6-5, 8-3, 10-2) minus the wtf loss and an outright title
