Gill accepted the job because he was informed that he would be the coach to take us to the next level and that we wouldn't be FCS for more than a couple years with him as the HC.

and if we win when it counts all those things are actually true. i don't think gill is explicitly saying to the team, win so we can be fbs, but yes, thats the ultimate goal. although, there's a good chance that is what he's telling recruits...

It very well could be...while we can't assume we know what goes on in those conversations in living rooms and at kitchen tables across the country with TG or whichever of the coaches is doing the recruiting pitch, it would make sense if that is something that at the very least comes up.

We are an anomaly in private schools. In general, the private schools that have the resources to be FBS gained those resources generations ago. We are a school that has defied tradition and all parameters since 1971.

Could TCU, Baylor, Vanderbilt, Wake, Rice or Duke have made the jump if they hadn't have already been well aligned 70+ years ago. Of course not. Frankly the only private school whose path we have followed at all is BYU. And they made the move back when there weren't the barriers to FBS membership that we presently face.

There simply aren't other private schools with even an interest, much less a possibility, outside of Villanova. And they couldn't even get their act together when they had their own BCS conference begging for them to step up.

We are a unique breed in nearly every aspect of our collegiate existence.

Way makes London so good, as opposed to TG. If you ask me Kansas is a bigger "name" than UVA so if he was avail, I still say the better of the two is TG. JMO

Considering the buy out that Kansas gave him, he didn't NEED the job.

O please, we all know the main reason Gill took the job was because he was told we would be in an FBS conference within a couple years. Regardless of what his payout was. And London was never in discussion for our HC opening. When you have millions of dollars coming in every year the NEED for an immediate job is rarely to never there. Gill is a solid coach and saw an opportunity to help take our institution to the next level.

As far as London goes from a personal experience if he came to LU i would never even come to lynchburg again let alone to an LU game. I used to go to a lot of UVA games before Nick started playing but i will never set foot in that place till he is fired which pretty much means i could probably go to some games up there next year. hahaha
