It looks like that mixed race kid with the tats on his head was shot in the raid of the brothel also. The members of the Sons are having about as good a season as our football team. They keep getting knocked off!

It looks like he couldn't run, better run, out run the bullet. Sorry trying to bring it back to this thread.

Just watched the episode last night. My wife was screaming at the TV when that went down.

Luv Jemma's new man. He is a great addition to the cast. I hope the ASA guy comes back. Love how he dumped all those toys on the desk at the City Council meeting. I can see the Columbians taking out Pope, who was great on OZ but not so great on Lost. I can also see that guard gunning down someone to save his family from Jax

She screams wildly at Justin Bieber concerts also?

With all due respect good sir your wife was screaming at a television set. Your wife was screaming...at a television set. I concede, this ends the debate for me. I thought I could talk some cultural sense into this thread and I realize now all hope is lost.

Yes, she had an emotional reaction to a television show which she has been watching for 5 seasons. A character she liked was brutally beaten to death. She also has a tendency to cry when watching sad movies. Hard to imagine, huh? I suppose that one day you will realize that women can be emotional creatures if you are ever able fool some naive girl into thinking you are worthy of marrying.

And, no, she would not be screaming wildly at Justin Bieber. She would, however, be singing and dancing if we were at a rock concert.

Honest question here. Has ANYONES opinion been changed due to seeing the logic from the other side of the argument? If not, I'm wondering why we even have these discussions if everyones mind is closed entering them.

I said that I see the other side. But since nobody really cares what I think, carry on. :D

I'll have to admit my mind has changed , not because of this thread, but in general.

There is a line we shouldnt cross because of our University's mission. I feel that line is creeping when it comes to music at the football games. I would like to see a few movie quotes, even movie clips on the screen.

HMO, thanks for letting us sneak in an eat, as the Alumni tent was closing on Saturday. $5 all you can eat hotdogs. Thats better than Sheetz right now.

I agree that LU has a line they should not cross. I am usually the first to bring something up with my fellow students when I think that line is crossed. I just did not think this particular song crossed that line. I understand and respect logic's logic just dont agree in this instance. I guess I would rather have us err on the side of caution though.

Good point, HMO. I'm open to new ideas and have no problem trying to understand different opinions. The way things are presented here aren't constructive for the most part. It's the "my way or the highway" tactic of forcing opinions on people that annoys me. I'm probably guilty of this as well, so I'm not placing the blame on any one individual. I just try to keep an open mind which can be hard at times.

Awesome! Introduce yourself to me next time so I can make the connection....if you even want the connection to be made! :)

Agreed, we are VERY opinionated on this board...I guess that's kind of the tagline, but to the point that someone else made it cant always be I'm right your wrong. It really discourages people from even wanting to enter the lions den

So what are you doing on this board?
logic wrote: This just does not strike me as a song college intellectuals should be singing along to. Call me elitist, that is fine. We are at an institution of higher education and a Christian one at that, and we are singing about high school students trying to outrun bullets in the hallways. I wonder, do they play this song at Columbine football games?
Not sure I've met many of the "college intellectuals" of which you speak, but I actually agree with you on that song. After reading the "Stadium Atmosphere" thread, I decided not to comment (okay, other than the first 41 seconds of that Wisconsin clip are the lamest thing I've seen in a long time), but actually make a point of listening to the music, and it definitely needs some work--rather unfocused and not all that exciting. Liked the suggestions in that thread better, but I have to admit, I'm on the side of actually listening to the words and not just the music. I've heard that pundit for too many years, and it really doesn't wash.

Back in the old days ( :oldhag ) we got in trouble for music code violations. I'm guessing that's not in the Liberty Way anymore - otherwise, why would you play something at the football game that students couldn't listen to in their dorms?

This might be a little too hard for LIberty's games, but I saw these guys at Atlantafest this summer and was blown away. Seems like the perfect song for football.

Back on subject, I don't really don't see the big deal about playing Pumped Up Kicks at football games. I understand the concern, but I don't think it is really a big deal.

Mrs Purple always laughs when we are at a concert that Coach Farver took her Abba and Air Supply cassettes on one road trip! Now she's going to KISS concerts! I think there is a lesson there...

+1. The debates over items such as this are worthless in my opinion. The song shouldn't be played at a football game here, but not because of the reasons cited here. It shouldn't be played because it sounds like a bunch of little girls singing a pop song. I'd get more pumped up listening to N'SYNC's Bye bye bye...

Bottom line - if I'm at a football game and I'm wanting to stay pumped up and intense in the stands for my team and I hear this song, I deflate. Regardless of if it's played during a T.V., radio or official's timeout. The point of home-field advantage is to keep your fans yelling and screaming every down the opposing team has the football and quiet while your team has it.

Yeah - so many youtube videos of what it's like. Even still they don't capture the feeling when you're actually there in person.

If people complain about a stupid pop song though - you can pretty much guarentee that once you mention the song's by Metallica they will FREAK.

I will say this though...if youre the kind of person that ONE song at a game kills your spirit and energy...take up something like...I dunno...knitting or something

Our auto-response to every argument and concern should be "Who cares?". All the world's problems would be solved, and conversations would be so much more productive.

Thanks for being such a valued addition to the discussion! Come back real soon!

B.J. - you're a 'journalist' right? I was employing the use of hyperbole to make a larger point about the discussion at hand.
