yes winthrop fan that is exactly what I am saying....LU's athletic program as a whole has been a joke, this is why we needed to clear house last year.....we'll see what happens...but yes by saying the BSC is a joke I am of course saying LU's athletic program has been a joke up to this point...I hope that is beginning to change

We bash the big south but that is where we are right now. Fielding successful teams in the major sports will do wonders for making this conference better. Our women have carried this conference into the top 12 conferences in the nation (maybe it was 13th). That could be done in basketball and football (as soon as we get another team). We just need to keep this thing moving forward on the fields and courts and the rest will fall into place IMO.

yeah it would be nice if more schools in the big south took sports seriously....its always the same 2 or 3 schools at the top every year....but in the end its a small conference and can only take liberty so far...we need to begin dominating this conference before we even think about moving anywhere....

No, I wasn't saying that they ripped Jennings off. Mizzer deserved it this week. It just helped the Coaches and SIDs not to have to pick a Liberty player. I'm saying they will go out of their way to dismiss any success Liberty has achieved. And please don't make me go through all the reasons. It's obvious. From rankings, to team honors, to player/school highlights - Liberty is on its own. We might as well be an Independent. The only thing we get is an automatic bid opportunity for NCAA in Soccer, Basketball, Softball and Volleyball. As a conference, I believe they should be actively seeking out good stories to highlight the schools in their conference. What is the last story you've seen? Gado? 5 1-A Transfers? McDougal? Feenstra? Frazee Triplets? All things that would and should be talked about by the conference. Listening to radio stations talk about with other commissioners about their leagues from Division 1 to Division III - Have you ever seen Kyle in the light talking about BS Schools? The're just going through the motions - collecting endorsement deals for themselves. The biggest deal thing they have done in the last couple years is extend their swoosh on their logo.

If you ask anyone on the BSC executive team to rank the schools in order of importance it will go -
1) CCU
2) Winthrop
3) VMI
4) Asheville
5) LIBERTY
6) High Point
7) Radford
BSC - Look - they even drove BSC to go back to being a division III School:)


We should be right there with CCU and Winthrop - but we are not located at the Beach or have the ability to put all our budget into a basketball Team. VMI - great tradition - but hey let's be real - They are not very good in Athletics - the Southern Conference was glad to lose them. Don't get me wrong - I'm glad to have them in our league, their close and we have a winnable game in every sport.

I'm just telling you to look at it and recognize it when it happens - Jennings, Lloyd, Smith, Terrell will have an amazing day and someone else will win the award, a Liberty player will go pro - make an impact, and the website will be concentrating on the next sponsorship deal that was signed that Liberty will not see a cent for.

I didn't say the BSC is or isn't a joke, that wasn't the issue of my post...I was just wondering why people were complaining about Jennings not getting the Player of the Week award. To me, it seems like Mizzer was an appropriate choice. Believe it or not, not every decision that is made by the league is a conspiracy against Liberty.
