I'll go out on a limb and say in the 750k range. He turned down 1 million from Buffalo to take 2 million at Kansas. We were paying Rocco 400k-ish, so I'm thinking we up that fairly substantially for someone with Gill's name value. That would roughly split the difference between his MAC offer and what we were paying as we enter the last months of the feasibility study and pitch to FBS conferences. Wouldn't be surprised if there's an escalator clause if he's still coach when the FBS move happens.
Bear in mind he is still getting money from KU as well

Very true. They are openly soliciting for their boosters/donors to help pay the 6 million they owe him as the firing apparently triggered a clause where they have to pay him off in 120 days.

Maybe he's here for free.

Like I said yesterday, some contracts terminate the pay out or lessen it significantly if the coach gets another head coaching gig. I have no idea if this is the case with Gill, but it's certainly a possibility.

I also doubt mentioning the Kansas buyout or factoring that into Gill's contract would be a proper negotiating ploy on Liberty's part. Gill's agent would likely walk out of the room if it was brought up.

Im sure they didnt use it as a negotiating ploy as you suggest RVA...Im just saying that whatever he is being paid (which we dont know as terms of deals arent generally disclosed right away), itd have to be in addition to that money

How is this even a question? It's pretty clear he's getting paid in Olive Garden gift certificates.
:rofl
Jerry Jr. just slipped him one of these as an added bonus

Guess it's time to figure out which FBS conferences have bowl tie-ins that are sponsored by Olive Garden.

Well done... If we could only get Olive Garden to sponsor the BCS Championship. Gill would be so focused that we would get there in no time.

Right now we'd have to settle for Beef O'Brady's

I asked all of my questions in the one-on-ones. No need to do it in the presser when we had that sort of availability.

Why ask your good questions when other media outlets can benefit from your brilliance? I know, Chris. I always had the mindset.

I was really excited when he said he will be running a 4-3 defense. So what is the multiple offense? Is that a form of a spread or is it a combination of spread and pro style? I really don't know what he meant by multiple.

Im guessing that itll have elements of a couple different offenses...he said we would be 55-45 run-pass so Im guessing there will be a lot of different formations used

I had never heard of that either and thought he might be trying to say something else but I googled it and it is a thing. Apparently it's an offense that uses multiple formations. Single back, I, wishbone, etc.

Coach Rocco used to say that we were very multiple as an offense. As LUconn said, it means you run plays out of multiple different formations. Look back to Rashad and Brock's senior year. We'd go Power I on one play and 5 wide shotgun the next play. We weren't tied to one basic formation.

Spot on as usual Jon...if you look at an offense like Georgia Southern or Oregon or any other team that specializes in one "style" of offense, most of their plays boil down to two or three standard formations with different variations based on what the defense gives. Im interested to see what wrinkles he comes up with. Also, I am curious what the comments from the players are after meeting with him today

One small thing I noticed:

They had two navy blue helmets at the podium. The white ones weren't to be found. Here's to hoping that means we're going back to blue.

+1 I can understand going with a different helmet for one or two special games but there are VERY few teams that can pull off a white helmet as standard part of the uniform...and even fewer still that can pull off changing to a white helmet except for maybe one special game a year

I still say that if we're going with multiple helmets, just go with 3 solid colors. All white, all red and all blue and rotate them through the season.

LUconn, SJ is making good points...he probably is one of the more level headed people on here. If you have a problem with me agreeing with him, then that is a you problem.
