First off, being ranked isn't a real result. I don't ever buy into rankings.

Then who exactly are they overrated by? Preseason coaches' polls?

They were picked to finish 5th out of 6 in the Coastal. They can finish no worse than 2nd.
They were picked to finish 11th last year in basketball. They finished tied for 7th.

Umm, UVA fans? and ESPN bloggers? I really don't care where they finish in the ACC...Duke finished like fourth a couple of years ago in the Coastal. The ACC is a joke. You can finish 2nd in the ACC and that's fine...but you're not an accomplished football team.

As far as basketball...again same thing. After the top five, the ACC was terrible last year. Sure, they surpassed their "ACC predictions." That doesn't mean that they aren't overrated. Duke consistently wins the conference when they're picked to finish 2nd or 3rd, yet, we're almost always overrated.

I can't stand uva or tech but tech is the school consistently over rated not uva. At this point I am pretty sure he is trolling because he is completely bored during Thanksgiving break.... or he is just completely out of touch with reality

The ACC is overrated in sports. Not too bad, but I'll take the Big 10 and SEC at least over the ACC.

Having said that, I do enjoy ACC basketball, even though Duke and UNC is all the league has.

There are more positives then negatives. The only really big negative would be a 72-3 Marshall like beating and/or a play that is so bad it makes the Not Top 10 for the year and possible ESPY. Neither a reason to not take the game.

bob a lot of people pay attention to college baseball. probably more than you think, and once LU finally becomes a factor im sure you will too. lets swing this back to what the thread is about possibility of playing VT. it would be good for the program plain and simple. Manson and everyone else do your self a favor and foe sweat. it will make your FF experience much better though i wish you wouldnt have quoted what he said. overrated in baseball? right 2 CWS appearances in the last 3 years, 2 ACC titles in the past three years in arguably one of the top baseball conferences. football sure they have sucked since 2008. this year since Rocco became the FT starter they have played very well. They have improved every week.That is no fluke. Basketball a non factor since 07, the last year they made the dance. so football and basketball certainly have not been overrated but irrelevant. sweat is a VT football fan and a duke hoops fan. do you need to hear anything else? I will agree with him on one thing, The ACC is the second to last BCS football conference. it is simply average so when a VT fan talks about the BCS and how great they are, i will say you play in the ACC and 1-4 BCS record....dont stick out your chest too much! i took it off topic!! sorry guys. carry on!

2ndly, saying uva is overrated is just stupid. Not a soul has said uva is good in basketball or football (really since 2005 or so). To say the baseball team was overrated is not even worth addressing. Tech is typically the overrated team taht gets all the pub then chokes out in big bowl games and down the stretch in basketball, but who cares.

The only bad thing about playing tech is if we get stomped, which as manson stated hasn't really happened to us. Could be a rough game for us but it would def. be interesting.

I do not think LU is playing VT in 2012.. I have spoken with sub-AD's on both sides and both said not that they know. So unless they are in the cold, I do not think VT is on the schedule for 2012.
