If the cocaine was someone elses. I would hope Asa went through drug testing. This is school proto call.

IF it was not his, AND HE PASSED A DRUG TEST. I think a 3 game suspension is enough punishment.

No one is disputing those...but did you miss the "fact" that because Asa turned himself in to the school, any consequence that results from this is (at least for the time being) muted. As I said last night (either in a PM or on here I forget), as it relates to extracurricular activities (and football is an extracurricular activity, that's a "fact"), whether or not someone is allowed to continue participating in said activity is at the discretion of the person leading said activity (in this case the football coach). From what we can tell, Coach Rocco looked at the "facts" of the situation, and after talking to the appropriate people about said "facts", rendered his decision. Also grace and knowledge, you might want to educate yourself on this discussion, especially the last page or so...

Thank you for clarifying the fact and also magnifying the point that 80% of this board seems to understand. Asa was arrested and charged with drug possession and Danny has decided to let him play. This decision lacks wisdom (even if the charges are dropped….he was arrested for possession of drugs)....the immediate response: LU is now viewed as hypocritical (go check out other team’s message boards, not sure of your interaction outside the bubble but the community is shaking their heads), the majority of alumni (at least the ones I know) appear to be embarrassed and ashamed of the decision along with the towns people. I respect your right to have an opinion I just wish it were shaped by Scripture. I know you are using the grace theme that Danny is using but both of you have grossly misunderstood the definition of biblical grace. I often think people have a hard time realizing that what is best for Liberty is not necessarily best for the kingdom of God. There seems to be a poor logic that suggests if it is good for Liberty then it is good for the kingdom. Fact.....the representation of LU football for the kingdom of God has been tarnished. Fortunately God is bigger than our mistakes.....however there are always consequences for those mistakes.....the law of the harvest. I realize we will not agree on this. I have not post much but I have followed the board from the beginning and I know you love Liberty…..this is something we can agree on.

agreed. IMO - this is administrations call and I will respect it. Plan and simple. They know a heck of a lot more than I do...

That's it. Let's stop the saying the same things over and over, just a different way.

Let's get the focus on Lehigh!!!

Just the facts!
did you completely miss the last page or so? I spent a very good portion of it explaining why it isnt as cut and dry as that...or did you choose to ignore that page since it didnt fit your personal agenda
and you don't have a personal agenda? Please BJ just stop, you're killing me

TRUTH - I find it ironic that you chastise others for using scripture to make their point yet you do exactly the same thing. I do agree with your position but found that ironic

COASTAL - what if we were a college and not a U? :D

BJ - the crux of the issue is that Asa did NOT come forward to the proper university personnel( in this case his coach) until the coach was told by someone outside the university about the incident. To me that sounds more like remorse for being caught. If je had come to the coach immediately after the incident and informed him THAT would change the whole situation.

BURY - if the coke wasn't his, I would be fine with a suspension about the length he has had. However, if that was the case, it should have been made clear ASAP and it would have avoided all of this kufluffle. The way the PR has been on this thing I'm not going to be surprised if that is the final story.( true or not)

FLAMES - interesting point. Basically a one game suspension for an unsportsmanlike penalty. 3 games for possession, driving with a suspended liscense and violation of the Liberty conduct code ( or at least the old version). That is one game per violation. Seems right lol

PROTO - saying someone knows a lot more then you isn't really saying much - :D You can respect the decision, but I don't.

If he was found to be using cocaine, (but we do not know if he was, as we do not have any indication of a drug test or any results from said test, as those arent a matter of public record, I know...my dad is a medical review officer, he as to handle a lot of those for various organizations), I wouldnt agree with it. Frankly there are better ways people can lose weight that are not as addictive and have the potential to destroy their life. Do I like the situation? I dont...Have I read what other message boards have to say about it? I have (I may be naive at times but Im not as sheltered as you might think). At best, what big Asa did was just plain "stupeed" (to borrow a spelling often jokingly used in my family). At worst, this is something that could not only damage him going forward as it relates to football, but also personally.

Just to dispell the losing weight theory. Weed is also part of the equation. In most cases, the ammount of weed smoked is related to the number of dorito bags consumed.

No joke. I just can't even muster the attention to it, no matter how hard I try.
This is sad, because there are 74(+/-) other football players that deserve our attention, and we are all busy beating up each other, rather than supporting them!!! Everyone on here are sport fans, without question, and in 6 months no body will be talking about Asa, but people will regret that they didn't enjoy Mike's last few games in college or enjoy a playoff run. We will survive guys...

So with that statement in mind, IF Asa was using cocaine, but he had a reason, like "losing weight" and self reported after Coach told him to, would YOU support the decision to reinstate?

Facts are LU is 1-2.

I don't think anyone is seriously advancing the idea that this was actually what was happening. Just want to cover the bases in case this is in fact being thrown around as the excuse.
That he was eating doritoes or using cocaine. Study

There's a lot of good stuff in here on both sides of the argument. All I can say to add to that is thank God for the foe feature.

Letting a player back in under these circumstances can silently destroy a team from within. That would be a concern of mine if I was a coach. Favoritism can be perceived and end up being a cancer.

The main thing I take from this thread:

Q. Is there a rule that I can call attention to in order to discourage the overuse of parentheses?

A. The rule is that if there are too many parentheses, take some out. Material that is comparatively less parenthetical in nature may be set off with commas or dashes instead. Stick the to subject at hand.

What are you trying to "say"? Is it some sort of "code" that only "those in the know" use for their "business". I wouldn't want to "jump to conclusions" until all of the facts have been "sorted out."
