My guess with that is that any additional activities are at the discretion of the leadership of said activity (in this case Coach Rocco and if need be the AD). I also think what we all have been posting from is the new one. Where the old one is I honestly dont know...my apologies for the confusion on that.

Now that IS confusing. You and ADAM both posted the same set of rules. Those are a little different then what you just posted . So is THIS new and the others old? Or is this another section of the same rules posted earlier?

I dont have a link to the copy of the Liberty Way I got, it was emailed to me...I had to copy and paste the cogent areas into my post above and as I said in that post, my guess is that they arent going to automatically have you pack your things that second and say "dont come back for two semesters...oh and dont let the door hit you on the way out", but that once the process and investigation have played themselves out, then a decision is made by the necessary review committee and then if they ask that the person be removed from school as a result of the offense, then they must remain out for two semesters minimum before they can return (if they are allowed to return at all)

Look Liberty can do whatever it wants. At the end of the day though, this decision has been poorly justified through the raping and pillaging of the "Self Report" clause.

I dont see where it was pillaged...The coaches found out about the situation, they told Asa "youre going to go to student conduct about this" and he did...since they didnt already know about it, it was considered a "self report" and since he self reported, he wouldnt get the reps outlined (as would be the case with any student who turns themselves in for any number of things).

I mean I just got forwarded an email that a friend of mine received from someone directly involved in this situation and this is what the first part said,

"We have always allowed students to be brought by others to self report. We have had students brought by staff members, faculty, etc. (personal note: or in this case, football coaches) Again, the main thing we are saying, we just want students to seek us out for help. We don't care how they get to us, we are just glad they are there."

And this is where I take exception to how 'self report' is defined. I won't say it was pillaged though. IMO, there is a big difference in going to a trusted authority figure and asking for help with a personal issue. And having been caught then going through the process. To me one is true repentance, the other is being repentant only because you got caught.

So if someone else was in the car and no one owned up to the drugs, from a law standpoint they arrest each individual. I'm not 100% sure and it may vary by state, but if your pulled over and even if someone has the drugs in their pocket, everyone takes the fall. I was talking to a co-worker about the situation today (without bringing up Liberty or the actual incident) who used to be an assistant college coach and his dad is a judge, who had a similar incident with one his players. There was a house party and the cops showed up and found cocaine in the bathroom. No one owned up to it and they arrested all of them. The player notified the coaches and the administration stating that he was didn't know of the cocaine and was only drinking -was of age and his first offense. The player was found innocent and ended up staying on the team. Would anyone change their views if this was the case with Asa

As an alumni I was saddened to hear from a LU student last year...that a football player had called her and was bragging about that several guys were drinking on the bus ride home from a game and some coaches knew about it and turned a blind eye.......I thought No...this can't be...not at LU.....But now after hearing about what is going on with the Asa incident....maybe he was telling the truth.....

I go to games and give regularly to the program...but I WILL NOT BE BACK FOR A GAME IF ASA IS ON THE FIELD....

This is a decision based on winning football games. Any reference to scripture is a cute manipulation of grace. If you want to support Asa that is fine, I applaud an attempt to "reform" his core convictions. But your walk still talks more that your talk walks. Decisions have consequences and this one really is simple. He has disqualified himself from representing Liberty University as a student/athlete for the 2011 season. We are innocent until proven guilty that is why he is not incarcerated. The coach and AD have put the Chancellor, University, Alumni and supporters in an awful position of trying to defend, justify and live out this decision.

And for those you try to make posters feel bad for expressing outrage...where are your convictions? This is a felony against the laws of our nation! This is a pitiful example to our community! This is way bigger than a trip to Bethlehem, PA to compete against a reputable institution of higher learning.
