Coach Rocco is a very Calculated Man. Everything he does. He has weighed the consequences and the benefit.

Based upon his past. I gotta trust his character. However, Knowing that he is very calculated, It would be very dissapointing if he chose the benefit despite the consequences.

Also, I hate when DOC gets brought into this type of debate. We dont know what he would have said. Lets not speculate.

He has another year of eligibility, redshirt him, let him stay in school (there's your "grace" for those that are pleading that as a reason) and see what happens. Football's a privilege; by allowing him to play, you're saying that being charged with a felony is not serious enough to take away that privilege. Again, there may be circumstances out there that alleviate these issues, and I have enough respect for LU and especially Rocco that I think this has been considered so I'm willing to listen, but until those facts are made public it comes off to me as a poor choice.
This is one of the best posts in this entire thread.

Grace and second chances don't have to require football.

Sit him for a year. The NFL will still be there next year. You give him a support system and let him show he's committed to turning his life around and to changing. Give him a year under that support system so that when he's released into pro football and has a crap ton of money he will know what is right and what is wrong and it will have been engrained in him for a year. Not to mention he'd be 3/4 of the way through a master's degree by that time too. Not only do you get the roots of the support system firmly established but you set him up better for life after football too.

To me, that's a second chance.

I got a message last night that I thought Id pass along. I wont tell who I got it from but its from someone who is a regular reader of the board and if I told you who it was, youd recognize it within seconds:
BJ, FYI, Purple Haize is quoting an old Liberty Way when he says that possession of illegal drugs is an automatic 2 semesters out. Sorry to bother you with all this stuff but I thought I'd take one last look at the board tonight. I probably will never look at Flamefans.com again after tonight. I have really lost all respect for so many of the posters on that board after seeing their judgmental, mob-like, jump to conclusions first, get facts later response.

Its not that that they took issue with, its the fact that you rose so quickly to judgement and then piled on even though we still do not have all the fact of the situation (and probably wont until this legal matter is properly resolved)

I don't really even wanna weigh in on this one but will say this much:

there are tons of other kids, in many other sports, (except Varsity wrestling, we don't have that anymore :| ) that need our support.

we have to stay the course even through this disaster.

IM glad to know IM not the only one starting to feel that way. IM sorry, but a few of the post here are more embarrassing than the issue being discussed. I sense a bit of hypocrisy, if some "honestly" care about the University as much as they "clam" I don't believe they would continue to run this in the ground here. Maybe I'm wrong .........

Seriously? I guess we should keep the board to talking about stats and making our top 10 lists. Sheesh.

People on here HONESTLY see something wrong with what's being done. You can't keep telling us "you don't know all the facts". Really? Well then wait until the facts are known before making a decision. This isn't some covert CIA assassination plot, it's football! And the facts that we DO know are what cause us so much concern.

They know how all this looks. "Trust us" just doesn't really cut it.

Nobody forces you to be here. If you get that angry about what some anonymous keyboard jockeys write, you probably should leave.

I suspect there are more than a few posters here who will regret what they have said in a couple of days, when things settle down. I am for anyone saying anything they want to, but you may want to consider that airing dirty laundry for outsiders to see just solidifies the negative perceptions that some hold regarding our school. The sad part is, all of us here are working with incomplete information, hearsay, rumors, innuendo, etc.
I am disappointed that many here have chosen to openly disagree with our leadership, especially since they have not given us any reason in the past to do so. I am very confident there is no one here that is capable of making better decisions than those that must be made by our leadership team on a daily basis. Are they infallible? No, I am sure they have made some decisions that they regret, but all real leaders do. I will just go by the past record and support them in their decision here. BTW, I would have also supported the decision to kick him off the team and out of school, if they thought that was the right move to make. Very hard for me to believe this is a "football only, how many games can we win" decision.

Carry on.

I dont have much trouble pointing out those with concern and those trying to drag the school through the Mud.

I dont have much trouble discounting everything those mud draggers say on here. I would hope that most of you have those same critical thinking skills.

Example of Mud dragger.

Seriously. Telling everyone to go watch the WWFlamefans battle inherently puts alot of pressure on us posters to put on a good show.

I love how I am the only one "dragging Liberty through the mud" when there are MANY others that feel the same way I do.

Spoiler alert!

By the way, I've read the Liberty Way, unlike many students. My current copy still says (minimum 2 semesters out). If this isn't the case, then a new one needs to be published.

Other than that, I agree with this poster about some people on here.

p.s to beej: I know who.
