Chris Lang wrote:Depends on how beat up they get. Florida State isn't the Florida State of old in terms of sheer size and athleticism, and FSU has a tendency to play down to its competition at home (see Troy 2006, El Cid in 2005, at least for a half).
Historically, FSU plays very poorly in week 1 which is when they get WC, however -- unlike Wake -- they have never struggled against a I-AA team. That Citadel game you reference ended up having a final score of 62-10 and Cid -- with a brand new coach at the helm, by the way -- ended up getting blown out at home the following week by a then-ringless Appalachian State squad. They may not be the all-world juggernaut they once were but Florida State still is to Western Carolina what a fat kid is to a jelly donut.

I don't care if you guys win against Western or not so long as you beat them up really well. We have them at our place the week after. :D

I dont know that we can beat them down badly enough for you guys to be able to win, that will REALLY be tough

It'll come down to defense. We had it tied up in the 4th quarter up there last year but gave the game away late.

RTF -- that's why I said for a half, at least, in regards to that El Cid game. I remember watching the first half of that one at the Mohegan Sun after Liberty's epic beatdown in East Hartford and wondering why the heck the Citadel was even competitive with FSU.

A half, sure, but FSU more then made up for it in the second half. As someone already said, it's the lines where WCU will see the damage and they have a fairly young line as it is.

FSU always plays better in the 2nd halfs, one of Bowden's strong points. Usually a sign of a good coach is that he makes adjustments at halftime that pay off in the 2nd half.

I see an 8-4 season for LU

I don't think we beat Youngstown State. We beat Elon in a close one. Lafayette makes me nervouse for some reason. I'm thinking 10-2 this season.

I could very easily see us losing 2, 3 would not be a big surprise, 4 would be.

Didn't you just say in your previous post you're guessing he's talking about FSU? I think that's what he's talking about.

I disagree wth him there. 8-4 would be a definite disappointment frankly. There are some tough games next year but we're not losing 4. The big question is getting a quality road win next year. We have two chances to get that right out the gate (@ WCU and @ YSU) win @ YSU and I think the rest of the season will snowball in our favor. win @ Coastal (which we have never done) and I think we'll be a speeding Mack truck going into Stony Brook and Lafayette at home (that really is the big thing...getting those two at home. if they were on the road Id probably see things differently than I do)

There is a Riddle in our schedule, and I'm not sure if we have the solution.
