I don't see why we wouldn't beat Elon. I think the team will be ready after they lost to W&M and they will come out hot. I see a win of at least 14, I hope. Go FLAMES!!!

Now, my point is not that Liberty is a crappy team. I believe you guys are pretty good. I also believe that Elon is a better team, playing at home. Hell, the fact that Elon has seen a similar offense and will see it in a lesser version can only help the home team to gameplan and prepare. My only fear is that the players, like many fans here (understandably), may start to look ahead a week. I don't believe Lembo will let that be the case. Good luck to the Flames this week, but I think we send em home with a loss.

That is exactly why I wanna go to this game.

I would love to see the consensus double digit underdog smack the face of the big SoCon bully.

Well, all of em except for that Taylor kid. He should be playing here, we just used to have a horrible coach.
And I care how? Please enlighten me.

The thing is, you do care....even if its just a little bit you care...

The reasons you care...you are jealous we are DI and you are not...you wish you had what we had, or for that matter what all DI schools have...

if you didn't care at all, or weren't at all jealous that we are DI you would not jump on this board day in and day out

But thanks for doing so because you have caused me to laugh literally out loud with your off the wall comments...and for that sir, I thank you

i'm jealous? last time I checked, I chose LC over LU (for multiple reasons) and I prefer D3 over D1. I will never work at a D1 school unless I have to because I love D3. I like D1, but I do not love D1. My ultimate goal is to be the head sports information director at a D3 school, and the only way I'll work at D1 is if it's a stepping stone to my goal. I don't get on this board every day because I'm jealous of D1, I get on here all day to point out the realities of what Liberty athletics is in the face of all you peoples' blind optimism and expectations (like when I pointed out why the football team is not getting the respect you think it should).

A preseason 1st place slate in the BIG SOUTH doesnt automatically mean "respect." Unfortunately a lot of people still think LU is a joke and the only way we are going to gain anyones respect is by pounding them to the ground on the gridiron.

shuk why don't you just leave and start a d3 board. if you do not care about D1 and you are here to bash LU athletics then i ask that you go somewhere else. the majority of posters here are flame fans and then you have the visitors from other schools where it is good natured smack for the most part. as scorcho said "you do not have a dog in the fight" so if you want to talk general sports, or other issues great, but stay out of LU stuff, if you are gonna come here and bash....it is jsut not needed.

I want LU to succeed just as much as you do, but it is a reality. Things have dramatically changed since I was at LU (for the better.) Not just football or basketball, but all sports are making major moves to become elite in the BIG SOUTH. Sorry if I offended you, but the bottom line is, we need to win to be respected. I didnt see or here the game this weekend but it sounds like it was a good one.

The thing that worries me the most now is not the fact we lost the game and how we lost the game but not getting the opportunity to gain that respect back since we have such a weak schedule. That is why I placed so much emphasise on this one game for us to get the respect that I think that is needed at the time. Loosing to W & M is bad enough but the schedule the way it is compounds the problem we have with getting respect. Looking at the positive side we did compete ( a far contrast to the fiasco LU experienced 2 years ago) and we showed a lot of character when we were down and they had all the momentum clearly on there side so I can be thankful for that.

Looking at our schedule we have Elon and Toledo as a means of getting respect back but Elon might be pushing it a bit. Coastal is down this year and Gardner Webb isn't much nor is Chuck South. The other teams performances speak for themselves. I am not ready to give up on the season yet but I am a little worried thats all. Playoffs are still a posibility but not looking to good for that possibility.

A win over Coastal is still a respectable win. They're one of the most respected up-and-coming programs right now, down or not. To say a win over them means nothing is asinine.

All I can say is as the season progresses and Coastal has some good wins under its belt I will be able to determine that before we play them. As far as the results of their first 3 games I just can't justify it. In other words Coastal doesn't look that good to me this year. Last year was a whole different story with there wins over Furman and Wofford. Those wins warrant some respect.

They may not look good to you, but they're still one of the top 25 programs of the past 2-3 years.

If that's the only reason you get on here, then we don't need you here.

See ya.

It's hard to believe we can't beat Elon, but after some of the issues Sat. night, I don't know what to think anymore.

While LU has a talented returner Lane has a boot and is averaging over 40 yds a punt and can place his kicks in the corners. Wilcox has a leg on him as well and really anything from 45 in is within solid range and the 45-50 range isn't that far off either. As the LU fans have said their secondary is not top notch and well...Riddle can air it up to 2, 3 even 4 options. I think this is going to be the best test of the season to see how we will fair against the conference.

Prediction: Elon 37, Liberty 21

GO PHOENIX!

Maybe not the best, but putting up 31 on Delaware shows theyre no joke.

And seeing them in person, They got it rolling, without their RB or Top 2 WR.

That offense will keep them in games, as long as the D wont give up 1000000000 yards
