I don't know if that's true or not, but if so, it's another reason to question whether players should be selecting captains (or whether they are even needed for that matter). Many of us have been around long enough to recall when our players made some questionable picks, and the fact that it was necessary for the HC to overrule them did not reflect well on the program.

Some players are chasing those sweet endorsement deals, hoping to become the next big influencer. Others are looking for a coach who promises more playing time or a better shot at the pros. It's a whirlwind of decisions, with players weighing their options like they're picking toppings at an all-you-can-eat sundae bar. Who knew the transfer portal could be so dramatic and deliciously entertaining?

At LU do we, decide who gets what NIL deal like a high-stakes game of "Who's Got the Golden Ticket?" President Costin, Chancellor Falwell, AD McCaw, and HCJC might set the stage, but does the collective play Willy Wonka, handing out those sweet deals? Or do they work their magic behind the scenes, making sure the players get their fair share of the chocolate factory—er, I mean, endorsement opportunities. Is it all about striking the right balance between talent, potential, and a dash of LU spirit?

It feels like the players that transfer in the spring are guys that aren’t in the 2 deep after spring practices and want to find playing time somewhere else. We’ll lose some depth but I’d be surprised if we lose many starters. This is also another opportunity to get P4 guys looking for playing time.

And what about HCHF's players? With the last portal departures, are we looking at a whole new lineup, or did they manage to keep some of the old crew? It's like trying to keep track of a soap opera plot!

There were 108 players on the spring roster. This doesn’t include 5 more that were part of this years signing class that were not here for the spring. So that’s 113. Have to be to 105 when the season starts and this obviously doesn’t include any new additions through the portal which there will be some. At least 8 will go in the portal, likely more.
