An update on Willis as well as more notes from yesterday on ASOR.

POSTGAME NOTEBOOK: NORTH ALABAMA
By:Jon Manson

WILLIS COULD HAVE PLAYED
“Malik could have played today, but we really thought it was wise for him just to not have any contact on that elbow,” Freeze said.

Willis went through all the pregame warmups like normal and it looked like he would play. He had a brace on his left arm throughout the game, but ultimately the Flames decided to let him rest for at least one more week.

“Going into the game, Malik warmed up, but they decided that he wasn’t ready to play,” said Chris Ferguson.

Willis’ status will continued to be monitored this week as the Flames hope he is able to return to the field next Saturday when the Flames face Louisiana-Monroe.

I’ve heard that somewhere before...

the secondary continues to give up some big plays. So that concerns me the most. It also surprised me that Ferguson was off with his receivers. If Malik had played im thinking with a 42-7 kinda finish. and we still need a kicker. the other guys on the roster must be way worse than Barbir. i wonder if any of the soccer guys could do better?!

I wasn't sure what was wrong with Fergie in the first half. He just seemed sluggish or rusty, maybe. But he was better in the second obviously. I thought Bennett looked really good, despite the INT, and the O seemed to flow better with him than Ferg. Hopefully, we can see both of them play more vs. WCU. I wouldn't mind a Sean Brown sighting as well. I was also hoping we'd see more of Troy Henderson and Frank Boyd. On D, I think we also need to try and get Sings into the game a lot more. Getting him was definitely a steal.

My sources in the Club Suite say that Ferguson is the REAL DEAL. :fineprint :fbplayer

I have changed my analysis/opinion to "accumulate." He is doing better each week. Mind you we had a pretty weak opponent last week, but he is being "coached up" for sure.

Is he the Ga Tech transfer and what's his prognosis?
Stricter was part of the part of the 2019 class I believe. I haven't heard anything about the GT transfer at all. I need to check to see if he's still on the roster.

The gt kid never got added to the roster. Stricker must be a total bust. Need to recruit over him. All ive seen on him is him talking smack on social media last year which is Embarrassing from a kicker. Let alone a backup kicker.

Ill admit i was wrong. I never dreamed wed miss probert. Its only because of how bad the kicking game is though.

I don't get the continued doubting of Mack as a really good back. He has been really good for a while. He led ALL of FCS in rushing at a pretty good FCS school. Then last year as the number 2 guy he put up really good numbers, including I believe a better YPC average than Frankie, who was great. Now he's had 3 straight 100 yard games and he's still getting downplayed. I really don't get it.

Yeah the Mack thing is ridiculous. You don’t get over 3000 yards, lead FCS and #7 in nation with being coached up at this juncture. Probably more of building relationships with new coaches. Could have easily led team last year. Great accomplishment only help the Liberty brand. We should be “talking up” all our good players. We need more players like Mack to grow the brand. Get off the negative stuff. It’s gotten old!
