That's the thing casual fans don't recognize: there's are tons of schools who want nothing to do with us. And when we aren't good, we give them less of a reason to play us.

Hampton played us when we were 1aa independent they gave us home & homes. Same with Norfolk State. They wpuld give us home and homes if we made a decent deal. Elon gave us a home and home after they left the Big South. I think we still owe Western Carolina a home game. There are plenty of regional fcs teams that would give us home and homes.

Believe me, we were not good back in the end of the Rutiligiano/early Karcher days when Hampton, Norfolk State, and Elon were giving us home and homes before the Big South even existed as a football conference.

That was then. This is now. I agree 100% that those would be great teams to play But just because LU wants to play them doesn't mean they want to play LU. Or can. Scheduling is tough. I don't doubt LU is trying to get those teams to sign contracts. Getting the stars all aligned is not always in their control.

What's normal?
That number seems extremely low--until you consider the fact that it RAINED all night! Plus, a lot of guys usually sleep in hammocks, which only works in rainy weather if you have a tarp above you.

Jonathan Carone wrote:Our students generally make up between 30-40% of the attendance at a game, so let's say 35% of total attendance on average. The student attendance dropped 26% from Jacksonville to Jacksonville State. If it drops even half of that (13%) this game, we're looking at 13271 this weekend. If it drops by the same amount as it did between the first two games, we're looking at 11,290 for this game.

I think we'll be over 12,500 but not by too much.
Attendance 11,273.

Wow! We tailgated in our usual place and many of the "regulars" weren't there. I knew it was off and the student section was off too.....but that is sad.

I could Google this but I'm curious as to when that last time we didn't draw at least 12,000. I would guess Rocco's first year since 12,000 use to be the stadiums "capacity"

We only drew 7554 against Brevard in 2013. Also only had 10,654 vs PC that year.

Before that it was 11,673 vs PC in 2011.

Those are the only times we've drawn less than 12,000 since expanding.

That's sad. Do they think they are going to draw more when the are a full blown FBS school? I just don't see signs of significant growth there.

They wouldn't drop their football program altogether. And I think they can get to 15,000 with success and a better schedule. They won't get much higher than 15/20k though.

I just don't think their Athletic Department is able to sustain the level of funding needed to be competitive or even field a team long term

Possibly and you would know more about it than me. It's just hard for me to imagine.
