I sure as heck didn't vote for SHSU or Furman this week. I'll defend my Chattanooga vote by saying I think the Mocs will win the SoCon, and that they've lost two tight games to Central Michigan, which rocked Purdue on the road, and to Jacksonville State, which will probably win the OVC. Chatty loses again, they sink like a rock. (And I know CMU got killed by Syracuse, but they apparently were missing the running back who did all of the damage against Purdon't.)

I'll just respectfully disagree about Chattanooga at #10.

I dropped UTC out of my ballot (I vote on the AGS poll) after their loss to Jacksonville State mostly because they, like Liberty, lack a signature win, and they had two opportunities in back to back weeks to get that win, and choked both away (much like Liberty has done over the years).

Hey now Eastern Kentucky might have something to say about that on what will probably be a chilly afternoon in the Bluegrass.

this is about the FCS polls so being part of the voting bloc for one of the oft referenced rankings (in this case the AGS poll) I thought it was worth mentioning. I think that was more relevant to the topic at hand than my referencing some post on there as I did in the game preview. NOW...if you want to get your panties in a wad over it,that's your prerogative, but in this case I think it at least had a place

While that an image NO ONE wanted to envision...that isn't the point. Though I agree that it is not necessary or germane to discussions here to mention any commentary on another message board, I was not doing that. I was expressing my personal methodology (or some part of it) in voting in one of the rankings (albeit not the one that leads to news releases on on the athletics website) that is posted as part of the discussion

Exactly. You might as well say you voted on the Americas Got Talent Poll

And ATrain may like that image. I don't think you can speak for every body.

Actually I don't like that image. He can speak for everyone on this board. Though according to you, there are some friends of mine down here in Dallas that would.

As for Sam Houston being in the top 25 after losing to a D-II, what in the world are people thinking? Or are they even thinking?

That's fair. I probably do have them too high. Probably should be closer to 15-18 than 10.

UTC may have played both those games close, but they still lost and are 1-2 with their only win coming against one of the worst teams in this subdivision.

Your point? I still think they're one of the top 20 teams in the subdivision. That's why I'm voting them there. I don't care about the record.

Ive been pretty rough on UTC over the years. Last year was their first season with 8 wins in quite a while, and a team that is supposed to be one of the top in the subdivision choked away their first playoff bid and outright conference title since 1984. The expectations have been pretty high and they haven't met them (in my view). Next week they get a chance to take a step in the right direction by exacting some payback on the team that cost them that playoff berth last year in Samford. The SoCon is down this year and if they can't win outright in a year like this, I wonder if they ever will.

In a way I am describing them as well PH. Many of the shortcomings I've seen in the Mocs I have seen in Liberty as well. you have two teams who have not lived up to expectations and their rankings (or lack thereof) are reflective of that. Liberty took a step in the right direction with the NSU win two weeks ago. this week, with Bryant's success is another step to that end. UTC has a bye then as I noted they get Samford. Liberty gets on a roll, they could be solidly in the upper half of the rankings come conference play

Overall, Southeast Louisiana, Fordham, Chattanooga (#14 in TSN?), Sam Houston St. (#26 in TSN?), Furman, and Samford are too high. Eastern Kentucky, Indiana State, and Missouri State are too low.

I still can't get over Coastal being ranked that high. Straight up, I wouldn't bet on them to beat anyone in the top 10, they haven't beat anyone. I think we are ranked too high as well. Not sure we should be ranked at all, but not above 25. Now if we beat IS, that may be another story. I guess playing "the sisters of the blind" has some benefits.

We definitely should not be top 25. But there is no reason to drop Coastal. I don't think that they are a top 5 team, but they have taken care of business so far.

I think we are fairly assessed where we are. Sometimes we forget that we do not operate in a vacuum. There are not that many great teams in FCS right now. After the top two, there appears to be a massive drop-off.
