It just never seems to work out in our favor. Is it just me or does Liberty and the FCS play-offs have some sort of a love-hate relationship?
FCS committee does not receive the Liberty Champion so they expect you to play a strong enough schedule with quality wins or now be the outright BSC champ. LU is not a victim and certainly has the $$ to build a play off caliber team.
Welcome back. Getting warmed up for basketball season?
Thanks, man... Not really, but if CSU does not beat Coastal on Saturday, I might have no other alternative to turn to... j/k :P

I get what you're saying. I do not believe that the FCS committee has it out for us. IMO, It just seems like we keep, excuse my French, 'crapping the bed' every year. The FCS play-offs showed us a little more leg (expanding the allotted number of teams) and we mess ourselves again.

I was not extremely disappointed when we lost to Kent State, nor was I extremely upset when we lost to ODU. Those games were non-conference games. Now, losing to Coastal was very disheartening due to the fact that we did not have any "quality" wins under our belt.

Even though the Big South is playing very well this year, we absolutely had to win every game in the conference. I think everyone realized that after the ODU game. Hopefully, we can win the rest of our games. And maybe then the committee will see that we lost 3 close games against quality teams by the slimmest of margins and hopefully give us an at-large bid... Hey, it could happen. :P

re: potential BSOUTH tiebreaker
LANG puts this crap shoot wish and a prayer to bed once and for all

LANG wrote: The main component of the system is the Sagarin rating of each opponent. Here’s the points system:

... COASTAL CAROLINA TOTAL 51
CHARLESTON SOUTHERN TOTAL 31
LIBERTY TOTAL 29...

... So to summarize all those numbers, Coastal Carolina is being rewarded for putting together an all-Division I schedule and winning those games. Charleston Southern and Liberty are being punished heavily for each playing two non-DI games.

... As it is, it’s mathematically impossible for the Flames to win any tiebreaker, unless it’s a head-to-head tiebreaker with Charleston Southern and 4-1. And that would require Presbyterian, which has won two road games in the last six seasons, to beat Coastal in Conway in a game in which the Hose are likely to be five-TD underdogs.

Imagine being a Charleston Southern fan. The rules for the tiebreaker at the beginning of the year were team with the most road wins gets the bid...so under that system if they beat Coastal but lost to LU, they'd still be in...but, hey wait...the Big South forgot Stony Brook left, so the away schedule is unbalanced. So we will create a new system IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEASON.

Too bad they didn't revert to the prior tiebreaker - DEFENSIVE POINTS.

If they would have went back to defensive points in conference, we might have had a shot in a three way tie.

But what would we do in November to pass the time if this had happened??
