Wow what a win. It was only fitting that Sigmon got the last tackle of the game. He was insane yesterday. I hope this will silence some of the doubters. I don't remember a bigger win in the last 6 years, actually don't remember a big win we had in the last 6 years. I just look at the team TG started with this year and all the injuries. What a testament to the coach and players for not giving up this year. I know they were really pushing for a strong crowd this week. The crowd was good but the 14000 is kind of sad. SBs only loss prior to yesterday was Syracuse who just beat #10 Louisville yesterday. That was a good win yesterday. Lets beat VMI. Go CSU!

Everything has finally come together if we put together another quality performance next week and finish 6-5 then I think we go into the offseason on the right foot. I know there is hope we make the playoffs and I hope we somehow make it there but honestly this will be the first time sharing the Big South title will mean something. There are a lot of holes that need to be filled, but this team has come together and I think there were times all of us doubted Turner Gill as a head coach. It proves that we really need to give a college head coach 3 to 4 years to truly prove himself and not get too up or too down about things.

Rocco built a solid foundation and its up to TG to continue to build on that foundation.

Highest compliments to Coach Gill, his staff and the players. Two teams may have come in believing they would win this game but only one played like it! I've attended many sporting events in my life. This is a top 10. The Flames executed with intensity and purpose. Our defense was, to borrow from a fellow poster, sick! That was the word that came to my mind last night. And after re-watching the game this morning I'm even more impressed. Stonybrook may have been bigger in stature and faster a foot, but Liberty played with heart and soul last night and they were not to be denied! Sick!

And now for the hard part, I too take my lumps. Maybe they can use me as a tacking dummy this week for ever doubting.

Go Flames!!!

Well, it has been 24 hours and my excitement has not abated at all. The game yesterday was just a testament to our coaching staff and players. Now the hard part, continue to build upon this win and carry it over to next week and next year.
I have been watching LU football since day one and have never seen a better execution by the defense. The offense played a solid game, no turnovers, etc. Hopefully we have turned a corner with more of these type of efforts becoming normal. Thanks guys for a great game day experience.

I definitely had my doubts going into this game, but the guys stepped up bigtime. this has to be one of if not the most dominating defensive performance Ive witnessed. Miguel Maysonet now has two of his lowest rushing totals against Liberty in Lynchburg (12 carries 33 yards in 2010, 25 carries 70 yards yesterday)

Nick Sigmon is a beast. He has a chance I think to go down as one of the best defensive players in LU history and certainly on the level of another fine LB to come through Lynchburg in Manny Rojas.

Woodrum has tapered off some since his red hot start but he definitely has a lot of potential to be a great one with a full spring and summer as the guy instead of having to look over his shoulder (or next to him if you will) before the season.

I look forward to this team going forward. We have AA, Des and Abnar coming back in the backfield, plus DP, Glover, Faison and McCarter leading the way for the WR, Malcolm Boyd possibly coming back to again anchor the line on the offense, Uzowihe, Bah, Davis and Fewell leading the d-line, and some very good LBs and DBs returning as well...the future definitely looks bright for 2013

You're forgetting the man-child Cory Freeman.

For those that may have recorded the game, re-watch it if you can keying on Dexter, er I mean Nick Sigmon (I think the pa announcer at the Bill finally figured out that a back up tight end is not our stud Lb though they share the same number...). He is an example of a tackling teaching highlight "reel." Early in the game, he goes in head up thigh high, wraps and drives his legs, not going to his knees like a lot of players do, until he finishes off the ball carrier three yards behind the point of contact. Well done Nick "The Beast" Sigmon!

Go Flames!!!

Great Game! This is my tenth year going to Liberty Football games but certainly didn't expect our program's first win against a top 10 FCS school tonight, but we played lights out on defense and our offense capitalized too. Got to be one of or the biggest FCS win we've ever had, along with our other wins against Eastern Michigan and Ball State. Not expecting the playoffs, but as many have said, at least we go into the offseason on a good note. With our small senior class going out we'll have many guys come back next year too. In the meantime, beat VMI!

Only issue with yesterday's game was some of the officiating. The 2yd kick catch interference rule to be precise, they blew a couple of those yesterday, specifically the one right before the half that would have given us the ball inside the 10. If the guy muffs the punt then its no longer interference and specifically its not if a guy is blocked into the runner.

Though we disagree on much of the last 5 years I totally agree with you here. This has been my position all along that with the resources/power and time given we deserve a competitive national FCS program and a MBB in the top three on the BSC. Hope the trajectory is up for Coach Gill. But yesterday is a quality win for sure.

Any chance Fogg is back next year?
Id say its a real longshot at this point. Im sure Damien or Lang could offer more insight on it but I think its a longshot he gets an extra year

Fogg has already received the medical redshirt so he is elegible to come back for one more year.

Gotcha. Looks like I just missed that post. having KFogg and Abnar back on kick returns will make teams do quite a bit of strategizing with how DJ showed himself on kicks this year. Having Malcolm back will be huge as well, with the losses of Weatherington, Lundy, Herring, Sellman (graduation) as well as Mondor (injury), having senior leadership will definitely help as the underclassmen start getting their chance
Are we back?

Nice! Here is to hoping we can live bot free.
