I'm only speaking for me, but the white helmets come across as... cheap. Small-time, even. I'm not sure why. I think something about the blue just worked better in that regard. Contrast, I suppose. I don't mind the white sometimes, but I liked having the option for either.

If we had a logo that was visible on helmets when viewed from a distance, it would help either way. I've had a long-standing beef with our athletics logo when it comes to scaling down, though. As long as you've got some huge space to display it, it's fine. Whenever it has to be scaled down, it's terrible. Football helmets and TV graphics are prime examples of that.

Don't you think it might be a problem to wear the same combo at home as on the road? I think there need to be some sort of differentiation.

I say every game they can wear all White without conflicting with the opposite teams colors they should do it. I like the yellow/gold/orange flame idea but wouldnt want to see it anywhere other then on a helment maybe as a logo outline or somehting(it would make it more clear that it wasnt a tribal logo LOL).

I'm not sure if this is how college sports works but in the NFL, the home team chooses their uniforms and the opposing team has to wear their white or colored uniforms based on that. They all wear colored at home and conversely are forced to wear white on the road. With the exception of the Cowboys. They choose to wear white at home and of course are forced to wear white on the road. Every once in a while a team will choose to wear white at home when playing them, forcing the cowboys to break out their blue jerseys. I'm not saying we should do that though. I just find that interesting. It keeps the fans from having to see the opposing team be white every single week. :blahblah

To add to what Luconn was saying, the Redskins also traditionally wore white at home and you rarely saw the dark jersey unless they were playing at Dallas. Now NFL teams wear white at home in sept a lot especially ones that have black jerseys or navy blue because of the heat. The only exception would be the Steelers and the Packers. They NEVER wear white at home. I have even seen the Raiders wear white at home on at least 1 occasion but not very oftern for them either.

My vote for Liberty Uni's is to get rid of the white helmet altogether. I don't like it. I love the blue. I really don't like the white helmet with red and blue because it looks like a bomb-pop. Although I know the bomb-pops have red at the top, then white in the middle then blue but you get the idea.

Blue helmet, Red Jersey, white pants is my vote since blue jersey's are not in the equation.

I agree. It's really hard to tell what the logo is from a distance. They need to come up with something simpler that would stand out at the same time. Even some version of LU would work better than what they're using now.

I agree 100%. The LOGO looks silly on the helment. I think the LOGO look sway to much Like some old school tribal pattern (either way you cant see it on the helments.

I say we Keep the lids white but do a pearl white. "Like a more expensive luxury car look" the Pearl White(has the reflective Flakes in it) changes when light hits it from diffrent anlges.

Pearl white sounds nice with the flakes kind of what ND did with the gold lid with shiny flakes.

Since there are no more blue jerseys, I would like to see white lid, red jersey, blue pants.

I'd be all in for that, for a team that really doesn't have much football tradition uniform wise, what do we have to lose? It would definately get our name out there!

Yes, BuryYourDuke. I'd want something LIKE that. It scales well. Compare it to their old helmet and it's an obvious improvement in how easy it is to grasp what you're looking at. Ours suffers from the same problem.

Let me try to illustrate. When the logo is displayed on a large area, it's perfectly readable.

Image

However, when it's displayed on a small area (such as a helmet viewed through a TV camera at the top of a stadium)...

Image

It's just not very apparent what it is you're looking at, much the less recognizable as the Liberty Flames logo. You certainly can't read it. There are tons of small details (like the eye of the eagle) that you just can't see from far away or unless the graphic is huge. The image doesn't scale down well.

By comparison, other helmet logos are usually something big, bold and instantly recognizable. They're also usually pretty simple designs. All of these things mean they scale down well and are still instantly recognizable at a distance, or when used as a small graphic on TV.

If there was a way to do something similar to the Eagles helmets but with blue wings, or outline wings on a white helmet, that might be an interesting alternate to try. I also would be in favor of BYD's idea of blowing up the eagle head and doing something similar to Boise State's Pro Combat look
