Yes--but we will get SOME of the outer rain bands by tomorrow morning. I, too, am a meteorological junkie. I guess a lot will depend if it heads out to sea and up the coast later today or tonight.

From Jeff Masters' blog on weatherunderground.com:
There is no change to the forecast. Ernesto is maintaining a well-organized appearance on radar animations, and should only slowly weaken during its 1-day long plus passage up the length of Florida. The storm will re-emerge into the Atlantic early Thursday morning and re-intensify over water. If the storm stays close to shore and makes landfall in South Carolina, it will probably come ashore Thursday night as a tropical storm. If the storm moves more offshore and makes landfall near the Outer Banks of North Carolina, it has extra time over warmer water, and will have a chance to be a Category 1 hurricane. The chances of Ernesto becoming a hurricane are a little less than it appeared yesterday, since it made landfall in Florida as a weaker than expected storm.
I just don't think we'll see much of the effects from this storm until after the game. Friday's gonna be a wet one, though.[/b]

Thanks, Chris. Nice explanation. Although I hope for a dry night, I predict a decent rain during the game. I guess we shall agree to disagree on our respective forecasts.

Ernesto just finished passing over us with little impact on anything. It has taken such a beating on land here that it has been downgraded to a tropical depression. It will probably reorganize once it gets off the coast and back into warm water but the odds of it reforming as a hurricane are slim. The weather service kept saying we were going to get 10-15 inches of rain and we only got 3.5 and we were on the bad side. The storm is diorganized and I don't think it will impact the game tomorrow night. Wish I could be there for the beginning of the Rocco Era. Best of luck to all of you up North!

pfff, Ernesto's got no heart. All the potential in the world and what does he do? He falls apart on Florida.

A.G. ... oh, I think we'll get rain, but I don't think it's going to be Ernesto rain until Friday. They were forecasting rain for the area from noon on today, which is why we played golf in the morning. I think what we'll get today and tomorrow is coming from the front to the north.

What'll be interesting is if the northern frontal boundary clashes with the tropical moisture on Friday, thus stalling the storm. Then it could be a quagmire around here.

LOL! I was thinking about posting the same. Friday will be a major wash, either way. If that front comes in a little quicker, it could stall things so we get little or no rain until Friday. It's like picking up a girl--it's all about timing (of course, my luck was usually the ugly ones at closing time).

You two need to get a room......one with a TV or a computer so you can talk about meterological data until you both pass out......now i await a brokeback comment or possibly a post by the man himself.

Seriously though, i wish i could get Cowherd's rant on weather man( too funny) - not to mention the ones in this area recently all seem to find a pink slip and rehab, so it should be easy to find an opening.

It is beginning to look a lot like I will not be driving back for this game. These weather reports are getting ugly. There is going to be so much flooding and the last time that happened, my ride home was somewhat adventurous.

That is because you haven't driven through a puddle that was as tall as, well you, and rolled your SUV. You did crash the boss' car this year though didn't you. I will make my decision for sure tomorrow. I still have to go back to Richmond in the morning. That is the real issue for me. Driving through 2 rain storms or getting stuck in Lynchburg when I need to be at work on Friday makes it tough. We shall see.

I'll be there.. with my ballcap and red LU Flames t-shirt.

Nothing makes for a good football game, outside of snow, than a little rain.

I got soaked tonight so I'm pretty used to it. I may actually wear tennis shoes instead of sandals though, and might take an LU jacket but doubt it. I wonder how bad face paint will run in the rain.
