Oh wow I just spoke with a good friend of mine who is a college scout for an nfl team..and he seems to think the same thing.. 4.6 they would love to get him as a free agent or later rounds. I guess that laughable also.

To think a scout/coach/whatever would cross a guy off of his list because of this and ignore everything else, that's what's funny.

Maybe you dont realize how important the Combine is with hundreds of team officials micro-analyzing everything, players will run, jump, answer very personal questions, take unusual psychological tests and undergo detailed medical examinations.
A surprising result one way or the other could easily mean a player's projection moves several rounds in the draft, which brings with it a swing in potential income -- or team expenditure -- of many millions of dollars.

Oh I definitely think he lost some money. I think I even said that after it happened. But as you said there's lots of things they do and the 40 is just one of many. And hopefully one of those "hundreds" of team officials will be aware enough to realize that he had an excellent 1st time that wasn't counted.

Who says someone is crossing Rashad off of their list...their not..they may move his name down the list..thats how they do things. The names are moving up and down intill seconds before the guys name is called during the NFL DRAFT. His stock was up but now its down and other draft hopefuls that where down (Cedric Peerman) (Ian Johnson) (Brian Robiske) are now up up up. A 4.6 was a bad bad day for Shad ..things like that happen..Terrell Davis one of the greatest Rb's was never drafted so obviously its not the end of the road.

you did. You said, in your opinion, he just fell out of the draft.

Terrell Davis was drafted in the 6th round in '95.

I guess if there is a cutoff at 4.6 that means Shon Green won't be dfrafted either, and Beanie Wells made it by a couple of hundredths of a second. Puhhhhhhhleeez.
I think you need to take a break troy. You lose more credibility with every word you type.

This is all true, and let's not forget that Rashad was the top true RB in the bench press, and did well in the long jump, but of course all that doesn't matter because he misses the magic 4.6 by 2 hundredths of a second. Right. :rofl

They made him re-run a third, because his first two times were so far off. They then will use the two that were closest together. It's rare to have time that far off.

I think he made a great showing in all areas. Scouts will see he ran that 4.49 even though it was taken off and his 2nd place in the press will help too - he beat everyone, but a fullback. He is going to get drafted. Troy - you so confident? Make a bet with me - if he gets drafted you have to donate $20 to FlameFans, if he doesn't, I'll donate $40. Deal?

And don't forget he was bigger than most backs running - don't think they don't keep that in mind!!

big and strong - fast? yes, just not a blazer. He can get the job done. i honestly think this guy plays in the league for many years (barring injury). I think he'll end up playing at 240-245lbs. in a couple of seasons.

That's what they were speculating but to take the 1st time away just doesn't make sense. He ran a 4.49 (unoffically). Just because his other 2 times were significantly higher doesn't mean he didn't run that. Even if he ran a 4th one at 10 seconds, doesn't mean he can't run a 4.49 and that's more than Beanie Wells can say. But that's not what some chart in some war room will say this April.

20 yard shuttle 4.20
Interesting since his knock always seems to be people talking about how he's not shifty and he doesn't dip his hips when he cuts.

Sorry, I hit the submit before I entered all Rashad's results. I edited the earlier post to include them. It's pretty impressive. You could argue he had the best overall performance of any RB there, even with his best 40 time wiped out.

Rashad was a "top performer" in 5 of 7 events tested. Would have been 6 if his best 40 time had counted. The other one he didn't make the top 10 in was vertical jump, which when you consider he has 20-30 pounds more to elevate than most of these guys is understandable.

Donald Brown of UConn was the only one ahead of him with 6 events. He came up short in the bench. Ian Johnson of Boise state matched Rashad with 5.

I thought the most impressive thing was that he beat a lot of much smaller backs in the agility and change of direction drills.

troy, my man. Did I read you saying that Cedric Pearman "stepped up"? Well, he was impressive, with a fast 40 and an impressive 27 in the bench, but he only made the list in 4 drills. I guess that means Rashad REALLY stepped up.

The Johnson guy from CSU looks and plays like a monster, but was probably the dud of the combine in the RB department. Didn't place in anything, including the bench. Too bad they don't have a squat event. He will probably be drafted, and will make somebody's team.

i've seen 4 NFL writers articles that referenced the 4.49 without discounting it. So everyone will know he ran it. he will be fine. He WILL be drafted, and have a fine career. It is the whole body of work not 1 drill.

Liberty running back Rashad Jennings has been so dedicated to performing well at the Combine and his Pro Day that he even spent Christmas Day in Florida so that he could continue his training without interruption.
"It didn't even feel like Christmas, it was hot," the Lynchburg, Virginia native told Scout.com during an exclusive interview. "But I didn't want to miss a day, you only get this opportunity once. So I don't even consider that to be a sacrifice."

If you're looking for bigger, a guy like Rashad Jennings from Liberty might be the answer. He's 6'1, 234 pounds and likes to barrel through folks (a video down the right side shows him benching 395 lbs). He ran a 4.5 40, but clearly he's meant more as the bruising back. Given his solid offseason, I don't imagine he'll last too long.
