Other than the seeds, home games have to do with Geography and the Almighty dollar.

We won't be getting a seed, so our best shot after that would be if they send Colgate, EKU or Wofford to JMU, and send Sc State to App. Then maybe we could host an east coast team since we would fork over the dollars. But, that being said, I have a feeling that, if we don't go straight to JMU, that we might wind up in Richmond, since they historically pay up to get home games and probably have the more proven fanbase.
Dude check out Richmond's football history.

I'm hearing that Liberty has jumped all the way up to the #14 spot in the TSN poll. W&M is 19, and Maine is 20, and Elon 17.

I know it doesn't assure us of a playoff spot, but having beat 3 teams from auto bid leagues and it looks like we may finish with an average of 16 or higher in the 3 major polls has to help our chances.

If the other polls hold form, then we will have met the qualifications that were laid out by the committee before the season as standards for at large bids. Now those standards were aimed at the NEC and don't automatically assure us anything. But it certainly makes our case better for the committee.

What are the polls that count? TSN, Coaches, what else?

What Happened On The Last Weekend of the year?

We won’t know exactly how the games affected the playoff committee until the selections are made, but here’s the opinion of one nation Football Championship Subdivision columnist as to how the final weekend shook out the playoff field.

Three CAA at-large teams. For fans of William & Mary and Maine, I believe your bubble has burst. At 8-4, Maine’s 28-24 loss to New Hampshire means the Black Bears were unable to beat any teams bound for the playoffs. 7-4 William & Mary has a slightly better resume with a win over New Hampshire - but I don’t think the 7 D-I win teams are going to get to the bargaining table.

Elon is still a bubble team. It seems heartbreaking to not include an 8-4 Elon team that was in the Top 10 most of the year and was on the brink of a SoCon championship, but I believe their resounding 26-3 loss to Liberty may just have eliminated them. Although they have 8 D-I wins, they’ve lost three of their last four games - including double-digit losses to Wofford and now Liberty - and historically, that’s been bad news for your playoff chances.

Liberty is in. Conversely, the 10-2 Flames just made the 8 D-I win plateau with their 26-3 win over the Phoenix - and also in the process jumped in line for an at-large playoff spot ahead of Elon. They got their marquee win; despite their loss to 4-7 Presbyterian, I think they should be in the field of 16.
Three different bracket projections here as well with one interesting pick:
Liberty @ #1 James Madison

Wofford @ Liberty

Liberty @ #1 James Madison

Greetings, Flames fans. Our teams have never met on the field, but we're certainly in competition today. (I take that back ... our media guide shows a 1982 win over Liberty Baptist. Is that you?)

I think it really comes down to Liberty or Jax State. I don't believe the committee will take a fifth CAA team when there are other good options available. And having said that, I think Liberty has the edge, as reflected in the new poll out today. We took over your old spot at #22, btw. Being idle on the last week of the season may seriously hurt our chances. Perhaps we should have scheduled Gardner-Webb - looks like beating a Big South team might have counted for something ;)

The only thing that gives me hope is your two DII games. The championship handbook says the committee may give more consideration to teams that play all-DI competition, which we did.

For the record, being technically third in our conference won't matter, I don't think. Order of finish won't mean as much as the record itself, and we've got the record to make a case. It'll really come down to whether we have advocates on the committee who can take the shine off your victory over Elon (congrats, btw) with the DII thing. I don't know that they'll succeed.

Anyway, if like me you can't concentrate on anything else today, we're all biting our nails together at http://www.gojaxstate.com. Stop by if you'd like to banter.

Congrats on a great season, no matter how it turns out.

------------
EDIT: Our media guide is littered with historical errors. In another records section, we show two wins in a home-and-home in '81 & '82. Your media guide corroborates this. So we do have history.

thanks for stopping by jax. i think you guys have a great case, but i feel ours is better as is the tribe. it is certainly nail biting time indeed. i think if LU does get in and we host a game it could be against richmond. a regional game that richmond fans would travel and with our solid fan base even without the students could make for a good game, but who knows.

I think Chris made the point yesterday that Jax State was the 3rd place team in the OVC. They are OUT.

what the heck is your deal rooskie?? because lang says it , it is law?? none of us are in the war room so none of us know. though jax state finished 3rd they have enough wins and the perilloux factor could be considered. with our upward movement in the polls i think the tribe is only team that could possibly get in ahead of us.

I'm trying to be optimistic and am choosing to believe the one who states the argument that suits me best. Kind-of like prosperity Christianity but prosperity LU Football :)

Welcome! Feel free to stick around. I like the fact that LU's national exposure thanks to our playoff run is attracting some fans from other schools to stop by and discuss what's going on.

And I would say good luck, but I wouldn't mean it. :P

I really think us winning our conference, a conference rated higher than the OVC, and fulfilling the "bridge" requirements puts us over the top in this one. But stranger things have happened.

Will do CJ.

We will know our fate once one of two things happens.

We are announced as JMU's matchup once they announce the first overall seed, or elsewhere in a random matchup with an east coast team.

or

William and Mary, Elon, Maine or Jax State is announced as an at large.

I was PLANNING on being glued to the TV tonight at 7. Then I got a phone call this morning -- pastor's sick, so I'm on sub duty today. So unless I can get away with a VERY short sermon tonight, I'll still be driving home from Greenup tonight at 7-ish. But I'm DVR-ing it, because I want to see it for myself before I find out on the boards.
