wow! if it was up to some you guys we should pack up the gear, put away the grilles and sell the rest of our season tickets! stuff like " i cant wait till hoops", or "this hurts rashad's draft stock" are you kidding me?? we still have a big south championship to defend. yes this is a horrible loss, probably the worst of the rocco era, but we still have lots to play for. we really need work on defense and special teams for sure, but cmon guys wait a bit before you post. we are all passionate about our flames and we want to be in the playoffs sooo bad, and next year the automatic bid will be there. the team needs evryone to come to VMI next week so not unless you are just flat broke or have no vehicle be there!! GO FLAMES!!

And it doesn't hurt Rashad's draft stock at all. He was the reason we were in the game in the first place. Ridiculous statement. And thanks, smoothie. Voice of reason.

Wow, this is a shock and very embarassing. Yes, this will hurt Jennings draft stock. No way does it help his draft stock.

Rushing for 189 yards and 2 touchdowns does not hurt anyone's stock. However, our not making the playoffs will take away opportunities for him to further elevate it through the exposure he would get in a playoff game.

We're headed back to the Burg from the game. It sure was hot in the stands with the sun beating down on us. Sure not used to the heat since its been so cool in the Burg. I have a question: Is there a big difference in playing on grass than what we have?? It just seems like we struggle on grass fields. I remember noticing that with CCU in my opinion.

I still am looking forward to basketball though whether I'm supposed to say that or not I don't care.

I will be at the last 3 games cheering my heart out as I have the first 9 games, but this season will end as a dissapointment. Winning the last 3 games will help that some, but it will still be a dissapointment. Of course we all still want to win the big south, but right now it hurts.

I wish we would get rid of these stupid slogans: "From Good 2 Great", "Unfinished Business"

The PC radio guys couldn't have praised Jennings more highly.

The NFL knows who Jennings is...today's loss means nothing to his desire to perform on Sunday.

Chalk todays loss to a team that had two weeks to prepare, had nothing to lose and presented a tremendous desire to win for a change. We are in shock as well as our defense has been pretty rough all season but today, things changed then PC played a near perfect game in order to beat a talent laden and well coached LU team. (We are obviously very proud of Coach Bentley and team for pulling this off...way beyond what we expected to happen today)

The LU folks are good people...just like your Head Coach and team...they deserve your support.

Absolutely ditto. Anybody think Alabama, at #2 in the nation, still cares about losing to Louisiana Monroe last Nov?

Let's be upset for 24 hours, then move on to the league championship, 9-2 record, mid-winter recruiting wars like the champions we know we can be.

I was at the game today. Our defense was exauhsted after the 1st quarter, they looked slow and out of shape all day. Played with no intensity. Doesn't make any since....they just wanted it more. And for those of you who missed it, it was a good call not to go for the FG, we were having problems with the long snapper all day, special team needs some serious work. Will be interesting next week at VMI, dont know what to expect....

I agree. I was at the game. D looked confused all day. Coach is going to have to make some changes. To many players in and out of the game. I understand his reason. Just don't think it's working.

This is a bad loss to the #218 rated team. "Unfinished Business" will have to wait til next year. Hopefully we can rally around a conference championship.

Old flame pretty much said why its hurts his draft stock...

but, if he had been able to have a few big performances in the playoffs, he would be much more likely to get drafted than he is right now. The fact is the pros are going to look at him now, on a 6-2 team that is in one of the worst division one conferences for football, with the two loses coming to a non-scholarship team and a team transitioning up from division two. They will see that he has superior talent and the size needed for the NFL, but the fact that we are out of post-season contention now will probably be the difference between him being drafted in the 3rd or 4th round and the 6th or 7th round. I'm not saying he won't get drafted because of this game. What I am saying is that if we had won out the year and went to the playoffs, and possibly upset a team there, then he would probably be selected in the third round or so.

Its still possible that he could go early. The kid from Coastal was selected in round two last year. You never know what could happen... But I do think that being out of the playoffs hurts his position in the draft.

Two points that Lang makes in his fishwrap article:

1. "The Blue Hose are still a team transitioning from Division II to Division I, one that offers roughly 40 scholarships, 23 less than Liberty."
2. "Before Saturday [Presbyterian] had never beaten a full-scholarship Division I team at home."

Talking about the impact of yesterday's game on Rashad's draft status is highly speculative, even for this board, but I could also forsee a scenario in which not being in the playoffs would work in his favor. Our first round game would have been against a team like App or JMU. Both of those teams have great athletes on defense, and would no doubt be geared to stop Jennings. If he were shut down, his success during the season would be devalued as being against inferior competition.

I feel confident he will be drafted based on his numbers the last couple of years, teams seeing what he can do in person and on video, and what he will do in either the combine or team workouts.

Good point about Rashad's draft stock being devalued due to what would have been a first round blowout against either JMU or App State if we would have pulled off the win yesterday. As I stated before our schedule in no way prepares us for the calibre of competition we would have faced in the playoffs. If we are eliminated from the playoffs at 7-2 there is definately a problem with who we are putting on our schedule as most teams are still in the playoff hunt with 3 losses. I would not want to see us play a team like JMU in the playoffs and maybe it is good that it didn't happen this year.

Right now I would definately say we are "overrated" and certainly not worthy to be nationally ranked or are we as good as our 7-2 record. Our so called "big wins" this year were against teams having bad years. Youngstown is 2-8 and Western Carolina is not the program they used to be and LU barely squeaked out wins in those games. Can't say too much about the other wins. Lafayette is probably the only good team on our schedule and you see what they did to us.

Maybe in the near future we could get to a point where we compete every year for the playofffs but now the program is just content to beat the VMI's, Chuck South's, and Stony Brook's of the world and everyone is happy.
