And one more thing, and this has yet to be answered, but why can't you try to do your own thing and start a tradition but still keep it in line with what the school wants as well? What's the problem in that? That's what we wanted to do with The LUnatics. We wanted something more than the Student Flames Club so we went through the proper channels to start a university approved club and got the approval of the athletics department before we did so. We wanted something different but respected what the school was doing with the Student Flames Club. While we disagree with some of the things with them, we still work together for the same purpose. Why can't that be the case with this Southern Style group? Why can't you start a tradition of dressing up but still stay in line with the school and athletic department asking you to wear red? Things don't have to be all red, but it wouldn't be that hard to get a little red in there instead of pink and lime green.

WOW. What a thread! This has kept me entertained and distracted from my work for a long time! I always showed up to games in bow-ties and slacks as a student at PC. I was also in a fraternity, so do what you will with that. We never saw this as a "fraternity" thing; but rather a PC thing. Even a lot of non-greeks don sundresses, ties, and slacks.

Even though I admire LU for its stand against alcohol and the like, it's not like this sort of thing among a few students [the vast majority of students seem to want to wear red and do anyway] is an endorsement of the "fraternity" lifestyle. Don't get me wrong, as a former Greek, I DO NOT endorse the lifestyle and I never did when I was affiliated. In fact, my closest friends in the fraternity were the ones who didn't drink. But I really don't understand how this has created such a firestorm. Why can't both sides just live and let live?

The founder of the group said he would encourage his people to wear school colors when they dress up and that has appeased the other side. So I think we are good now. Unless somebody else comes on here and starts slinging mud again.

tropical skittles are actually better, the chocolate just doesn't do it for me. And coincidently tropical skittles actually look more like the color of their dresses! haha.
