Humble_Opinion wrote: January 2nd, 2024, 7:28 pm Jayden Bradford looks legit and according to Coach Korn, he’s hungry and eager to learn. Between him and Mooney, you might have enough talent to win. We really will need our D to take 2 steps forward.

Sad to see Salter go. I’m sure he has offers from several P5s and is probably weighing his options. I was starting to hope that maybe he was happy with LU the longer the day dragged on without seeing this news. Oh well.

I agree though about Pavia. That kid has heart, and has shown he can win big games. I think he’s a step down in the passing game, but he would be a good stop gap to give Bradford his Redshirt year.
Coming out of IMG, he'll probably be ready as a freshman. But in the new college football universe I doubt we can keep him for 4 years though.

IMG Academy has one of the most fascinating business models in sports. The private boarding school located in Bradenton, Florida is specifically designed for top student-athletes. Annual tuition ranges from $86,400 to $96,900 depending on what sport you play, and the school generates $80 million in annual revenue

Tnobes wrote:I searched Twitter and the Internet and I can't find anything "official" about Salter being in the transfer portal, only the "plans to enter" rumors. The portal closed yesterday, weird I don't see anything official?
There is an extended grace period to enter the portal for players with late bowl games. The intent is to allow the players to focus on tbe game and then make portal decisions once they've played. Liberty players can still enter for a bit longer.

Pure speculation, but Daniels to Auburn would seemingly make more sense than Salter to Auburn. Freeze always spoke highly of him and Auburn sorely needs targets for whoever is throwing passes.

Hopefully 2024 becomes the year of Markel Fortenberry. There's some talent on campus, fortunately.

I was surprised CJ didn't announce this earlier. He was our only receiver that was consistently a matchup problem for opposing defenses. There's no debate having guys go to the NFL is a recruiting advantage. I'm curious if recruits see all of these guys using Liberty as a path to P5 schools and factor that into their decision at all. Maybe that's just wishful thinking.

Grace is a Christian attribute
But betrayal is like Judas! These players coming to and leaving Liberty are only doing so for their 30 pieces of silver!!!

Both CJ and Salter are huge losses, but I think CJ may hurt even more. CJ has clear NFL talent whereas Salter still has a ways to go. Both will be great pickups for whoever gets them. If Salter is able to make another jump like he did this year, then the sky is the limit for him. I'm excited to see who we pick up. I think after this year, our coaching staff has proven what they are capable and we know they know how to use the portal. We will be ok.

I have deleted the last few posts. There is a fine line between friendly back and forth and personal attacks/threats. Some of the last few posts have crossed that line. This forum has notoriously been hands off from a moderation stand point and will continue in that way but have some restraint, especially when it comes to name calling and borderline threats.

Thanks

I understand the sentiment here. If he takes the reigns in 2024 or 2025, and is as good as he appears to be, he will garner a lot of attention from P5s. The thing that gives me hope is that his offer sheet included plenty of P5s (Louisville, Penn St, VT, S. Carolina, NC St and GT are the most prominent), and he still chose to come here, because as he's said in some interviews, he wants to be here. He likes the atmosphere and how the coaches handle their business. If the LU NIL can keep growing, we might be able to keep him for 4 years. That leadership also might help keep other future starters from leaving too. Time will tell...

I’m totally ok. The defense was a bigger liability than Bill Clinton overseeing an internship program. I don’t know if it was the scheme or the talent but I’m not upset if any leave

Parts of the defense were not that bad, and of all the position groups our Secondary was probably the strength of the defense. Singleton was our best cover corner and second was Preston Hodge. Those two leaving seems like a bigger hit than you're making it out to be. Will we be fine? Probably thanks to Chadwell and co.

I listened to an interview with him on YouTube. I was very impressed! Sure hope he comes, stays.

You're a Mountaineer and probably burning a couch to celebrate one of our leaders in interceptions going to WVU :P

This is why I've been huge JB & Hampton fans. I'm partial to the kids that chose to come here & then chose to stick it out. I've been very impressed with Mooney & Bradford as well. So I'd much rather roll with Hampton, Mooney or Bradford if we don't land a high profile QB transfer.

As far as WR's go, y'all forget about getting Reese Smith (WVU) and Victor Jones (Nebraska) back from injuries next season. Manson was reporting high the coaches were on them before their injuries. If they can stay healthy we should be fine.

As far as talent leaving us for higher programs, this is just how it's going to be for the foreseeable future until the NCAA actually regulates the portal and NIL, we join a P4/5 or join the proposed semi-pro division, and I don't see any of that happening anytime soon.
