Got to think that TG had a hand in landing the Buffalo games. Wonder if a Nebraska deal is in the works...

And regarding mixing up the offense, how about at least one "bounce rooskie" play this season?

I'm sure Gill was involved in the North Texas games as well.

Any speculation on what LU may do for ticket prices in 18, 19, or beyond? Out of comparison, VT looks to be $350, UVA varies but are $250ish, ODU is 187, and LU is 60 I believe. I've been able to take my entire family, in conjunction with the kids club, for under $200. Paying closer to $800 will be a tougher sell.

That will be interesting to watch. You can get away with a ticket bump by playing the FBS card But how high do you bump? Currently LU's big appeal is being Family Friendly so you certainly don't want to price yourself out of that market. I don't think they can charge UVA and VT levels yet. Going to an ODU level means tripling the cost on one year. Conversely if you set the price high now, you set expectations for price in future years but may not take the hit because everyone has stars in their eyes because of the FBS move.
Like I said, it wil be interesting to watch which path McCaw takes

Just looked up CCU for a recent FBS transition comparison. They have a 168 option, which is 0-15 yard line, and then a 207 option between the 20s. They do have a family zone for 60 though, so they are at least trying to give options. Part of me says they'll see what the demand is this year, but that may not be a good enough gauge. Won't really know until the 18 games happen, and they have to decide the price way before that. Wouldn't surprise me if they bump it up stating it's competitive with ODU/CCU, but maybe not until 2019.

It will also be interesting if they do a variant single game price based on the team we play. Tickets were 45 to watch VT play LU, but 90 when they played Ohio state (assuming you could even get one).

I'm sure the Troy game will be half the cost of admission as the BYU game. Boise State would be an awesome H&H if y'all could get it done.

Now a game at Hawaii would be suffering for the Lord Im certain

Boise would be awesome just for the chance to see the blue turf up close and personal

When I heard the news that LU is paying 1.3 m dollars for ODU game, I was curious why. I am sure there are many reasons and assumption. But the time has passed, I noticed there is another beneficial of the Noise Marketing. The term of Noise Marketing is not in your dictionary. Basically, while people or mass media makes a noise of Liberty issue, brand of Liberty(or Liberty is now an FBS school) is sticking on their mind. Great work for advertising Liberty. Yay!!

This is a good article on the ODU payout. The columnist writes:

"I originally set out to rip into this contract for the school’s fiscal irresponsibility. But then I read through the PDF of the Athletic Competition Agreement for the 2018 home opener between Liberty and Old Dominion. Rather than ridiculing the sum being spent by the Flames to bring the Monarchs to Lynchburg, I’ve turned around to recognize why this is not such a foolish expenditure."

See most every single Jerry Falwell Sr interview ever.

Once we are associated as being FBS, then it matters. On another message board, someone stated that he was tired of every game Liberty schedules being talked about. That is good for us.

Those are all solid reasons. But I think the reason that swayed me was how the dominoes fell to schedule other games. As mentioned before, the LU game cause ODU to reschedule their game which opened up a bunch of dates that LU was able to jump on. Factoring that 1.3 over those games makes sense. Had those games NOT happened than it would have been a crazy move

I would love to see our schedule with a week by week breakdown of the contracts associated with them. This just seems like we did what was necessary to garner the schedule from strength. Our athletic program doesn't need to be subsidized through these contracts. As long as they always even out, our program will survive. Major kudos to those involved that didn't let the new guy in FBS get fleeced.

With all due respect to IM (and to use the Texas vernacular), you can tell that this "isn't his first rodeo." :clapping

Just a note for the writers here.

FBSchedules.com is a pretty reputable site and they have quickly learned about the quality and accuracy of using and quoting ASeaOfRed.com in their articles on Liberty. Well done guys!

Ahem. I believe the word you were looking for is "ain't." That may, however, have been a bridge too far for someone as distinguished as yourself.

Hey, he used a contraction. That probably took a lot out of him
