Isnt the consistancy of punishments at the school what this entire debate is about?

No. It's about if Asa should be playing football or even if he should be at school. We've already established that different people get different punishments for similar crimes. That's not really fair but it happens.

The press conference is in about an hour but I can tell that many of you have already made your bed on this situation and no matter what is said, you will dismiss it because it doesnt fit whatever you have conceived in your mind about this situation...Its definitely something that disturbs me but I was also disturbed with how quick judgment was passed by people on here.

Could you clarify what you mean by "BS"?

I'm disturbed that you are disturbed at how people were quickly disturbed by the disturbing justification of Asa Chapman's disturbing actions.

We don't really matter- but those outside of LU do. No matter the situation, until the case is cleared, to the average observer it will look like someone has swept this under the rug and we are choosing to use someone that looks guilty (in the eye of the average observer). There really is no need to defend Asa, the football staff or the Administration. THEY made their bed and will have to deal with public perception, no matter what is said in the press conference. Again, the public can see that MM up at JMU held the Rose brother out until their case was wrapped up before letting them play, and LU let Asa play with pending drug charges.

Did we not kick out a RB last year for breaking the Libery Way and allow him back this year?

My fiancee, not an LU person as most of you know, has made the comment on several occasions before this fiasco, that LU's PR is some of the worst she's ever seen. She has a PR background, and she just can't grasp how a school with our resources, and controversy, wouldn't have some legit PR firm working for us. We are never ahead of the story. Always reacting, always on defense.

I think it's a holdover from the days where we had the attitude of we don't give a flip what the public thinks. The whole Politically Incorrect since 1971 thing. In fact, I still don't know that they care. It's just in situations like this where it could actually hurt the school's testimony that it stings.

This whole situation makes me sad. Discipline is always tough.

I thought that Liberty was going to win the rest of their regular season games, including Lehigh, and make the playoffs this year. I think the team had the talent to do it with Asa sitting out. Now, with Asa coming back this week...the story will be, Liberty lost two in a row before they brought a suspected felon back to win the Big South and make the playoffs. That's what will happen. I don't know what Asa did, if he's guilty or not. But fair or unfair, the rest of the team won't get the credit if they win with Asa. That's just the way life is.

We definately need to pray for Asa and the athletics administration.

Is there going to be a Flames Hotline tonight? Will they still be having it at Doc's diner, and will Rocco be taking questions? I think they should play whatever is said at this press conference on the show tonight and Rocco and/or Barber should be there to answer questions or at least make a statement to the fans/alumni.

Is there any way to listen to the press conference live?

I have a feeling that the Chapman thing probably won't even be discussed on the Coaches show. Well, maybe very briefly mentioned.

As a pending legal case, you know this is going to be a situation where we are not going to get any of the answers we will need to accept this. Any question you can think of, I guarantee will be responded to with something about it being a pending legal matter and we can't give out whatever info because of that. And that's really the truth so there's not much to say really, unless an attorney give it an ok for whatever reason. So we'll be unhappy no matter what.

Just the very fact that he's put the school and the coaches and the team in this situation is enough to not be on the team this year, in my opinion.

again if the school cared about their imagine again they would check some of their professors and what they say in the media. I get twitter updates all the time getting gems from Staver and Co...and see jokes and nasty things said about the school following.

Like LUConn said Politically incorrect.

some of you are going over board with the Barber/Rocco getting fired tho. Hines probably didn't like what he did with the clubs.

Asa is going to be an after thought after he graduates. serious he's not going to be listed under one of the countless controversies on LU's wiki page  if anything if he gets drafted, they will say he got a 'second chance'.

So in other words, there's supposed to be a press conference that will answer many of the questions...but no one will be able to hear it...either live, or on the coaches show?

The best we could hope for is a soundbite on the news and maybe an article in the paper?

Any question regarding "self reporting" would not require delving into the legal case, although DR won't answer that either because he is the 5 TIME BS CHAMPION!

It's not raking them over the coals. It's bringing up valid questions that are derived from the press release that screams COVERUP!

Agree and maybe gives us a sneak peak before tomorrow's paper?!? I'll even promise to read the article in the N&A tomorrow twice.

Another thought, does the NCAA have any guidelines/rules for players in situations like this?
