When has Barber ever tweeted about convo? Not saying it applies here, but I found it interesting.

Maybe Rocco isn't that great of a coach. Maybe the success that we've had can be attributed to our facilities and such. I'm not sure of either of these things. However, even if all that isn't true, who is going to replace him? It's not exactly easy to find coaches who want to coach at a Christian University. It's even harder to find coaches who want to and have a history of success.

For the record, I made the post about no one getting fired, not because I don't think they should be. I only made it because I'm pretty positive Jeff Barber isn't going to get rid of Rocco. If it were up to me, I would at least be looking at replacements.

Rocco isnt going anywhere Im pretty certain, now as Ive said throughout this no doubt emotional period postgame, the changes we are going to see (or at least that we better see) are going to come at the DC and defensive position coaches, not at the top.

Why? I don't see why Rocco is so safe. But I suspect he's going to bail out and take a job elsewhere.

I don't know, and that's not my job.

I don't think we need a coach because there's some amazing coach out there to replace Rocco. I think Rocco has done all he can do, and we need to move on.

The way I see it, Barber isnt going to come off the plane from Indianapolis, call Danny Rocco and say "we lost again...youre fired". I suspect that he is going to call him into his office and say "Look Danny, this is three years in a row where we have lost out on a chance at the playoffs in the last two weeks of the season. Now Ive had your back all this time, but Im gonna need to have something to show the Flames Club members. I want to see some changes. I want you to stick around because youve done some great things around here, but I want to see changes...especially on defense. I can go out and help you find some very good people who can help you get this team over the top...just say the word." If he doesnt make those changes, THEN maybe youll see Danny Rocco's ouster, but not before.

I agree but if there isn't anyone better than Rocco, why would it be time to move on? It's not like dating someone, you can't be single in this. If it isn't your job to find a replacement, then it isn't your job to fire him or call for his termination either.

I have no clue if this has been said but what is it going to take to have the people Who are giving all the mony to support liberty having a football program to stop giving their money if Rocco isn't fired... I don't see how this HUGE investment isn't pissing investors off... I'd hate to see degative returns on my investment...

I hear joe pa is available... To soon?

This is yet another terrible reason to call for a coach to stay.

So should a team in a terrible location with no budget that goes 1-10 every year keep their coach because no one else will want the job?

It's just terrible logic.

There are TONS of coaches out there DYING to have a program like ours. Big budget, nice facilities, large student base for the FCS level. I am more than certain we could find someone more than suitable.

And I am of course basing this off the level at which everyone else views DR. Personally, I think we could improve at the HC position quite easily. Wins over crap teams year after year don't impress me as much as everyone else.

I hadn't thought of that but he is looking worse every season we don't make the playoffs to other HC openings. This would be a good way for him to rectify that.

Let's see the way lots of people talk on here we could have our pick of coaches because we have the money. Let's see:
Jim Tressel
Mike Leach
Tony Dungy
Jeff Fisher
Bill Cower
Skip Holtz
Terry Bowden
Doug Smith....too soon?

Why don't you have the vision to see that? :dontgetit

I'm not saying we have to find a great coach. However, we do need to find someone better than Rocco if we let him go. That will depend on how good JB thinks Rocco is. I can tell you the nickname of every FCS school in the country but I have no idea when it comes to FCS quality coaches. Not to mention, I think being in the Big South is going to hinder our ability to find a really good coach. At this point, I have no real opinion as to if Rocco should stay or go. We were obviously horrible before he got here and we haven't fallen back to that point. However, I understand that everyone wants playoffs and finding a coach to get is there is reasonable. I just don't want us to fire Rocco because of Rocco's inability to win big games. If we let him go, we need to have a really good replacement lined up. As much as I hate just missing playoffs, I'm not so sure I would enjoy 4 and 5 win seasons either.

You're forgetting Joe Pa and Urban Meyer. Here's a vision: Joe Pa - HC, Urban Meyer - OC, Jim Tressel - DC...and soon to come...Jim Boheim as new basketball HC.

I would be pleasantly surprised and be more excited about a potential jump to FBS

Maybe we could steal a coach or two from Mount Union or Wisconsin Whitewater.

I am not going to jump on Rocco because we lost, alot, and I mean ALOT, is because of all the mistakes made on the field.
I mean how many times has the offense fumbled, threw an interception, ran the wrong pass pattern, missed a tackle or missed a block/blitz? TOO MANY times this year.
Look at that last 5 minutes - fumble on our 20, sack, dropped pass, wrong pass pattern... I mean come on! And the D, in the 4th quarter to let a team drive it down your throat for 80 yards? when you are behind with time running out?
I do believe we need to improve our offense, and hope we get a good QB where we can really pass and hand off to our RB... and I hope our defense improves - the line is too inconsistent from game to game and our secondary seems to go into prevent in critical passing situations...
We need some good recruits this year and we need some good backups.
Maybe we can get someone/big name that can help with the recruiting, or actually finish the stadium etc... so we can attract better recruits.

I said it at the beginning of the year, if we don't win the conference and go to the playoffs this year the whole coaching staff needs to go. Will they all go? Of course not, but that is what should happen if we are serious about being a top notch football school.

I love Danny Rocco and how far he has brought this program. I really do. It just has come to that time he has taken us as far as we can go. Simple as that
