Salter doesn't transfer, he's too good of a guy for that, too smart for that and he believes the mission of the school and feels part of the history that is being made in part because of his play making skills, I think he feels loyalty to the school, but if he does, Bradford becomes the starting QB , he has speed, accuracy, maturity and seems to be built enough to adjust to the physicality of the college game. This was a good recruiting class

So if he does end up transferring does that mean he is none of those things?

I think chances are he stays. If he were transferring I'd imagine there would be more talk about it then just mere speculation. But if he did transfer, it doesn't make him a bad guy.

I think he stays as well. But the X factor is who comes calling and how much they offer. He has played for 3 different coaches already in his career. Hopefully finding some success and stability will be influential factors

Beat Oregon and it gets interesting. Hopefully he stays and we get in the playoffs next season.

yeah, that is my thought as well. We'll see what happens. I am just glad he is sticking around for the bowl game.

If he leaves I hope it's after next season. That would give Bradford a year to develop and chadwell more time to surround the QB with more talent. I'm not saying we don't have talent now but with the talent we keep pulling in we could probably get away with having an average QB and still win a lot of games.

Have we already forgotten about the two athlete QB from LA who is redshirted this season?

You are right, Mooney has potential and could compete when Salter leaves, he has an advantage of a head start on the playbook as well. I Don't mean to discount his talent, but on paper Bradford looks like the future, but the game isn't played on paper and things happen, injuries etc. glad to have both as options

WSET confirms that Jonathan Bennett transferred to The Citadel.

He is from Summerville, SC which is roughly half an hour from downtown Charleston (The Citadel). That and an almost guaranteed starting job were probably big factors. A Citadel degree also holds a decent amount of weight, at least in the coastal areas of the southeast.

I have a feeling he's gonna dominate there. I'm honestly a little surprised he didn't get more interest from lower level G5s after what he did to Arkansas and BYU.

The portal remains open through Jan 3rd. I think we need to be prepared for some potentially catastrophic entries following the Fiesta Bowl. I hope I'm wrong, but the money out there is real and this will be these kids' only guaranteed opportunity to make it playing football. I hate it for what it's doing to the concept of team and school pride, but it's the world we live in.

Whether it's after the bowl game or spring practices we will lose more players. I think as long as we keep Salter everyone else's production can be replaced through the portal. In some cases we may actually upgrade through the portal.

I will say this. It’s a lesson I learned a long time ago. Dont mess with happiness. Happiness DOES have a monetary value. But it’s pretty high. Or at least should be. I’m very happy in my current job. I *could* leave for more money but is it worth it. Sure, some of these players are gonna be offered money to go somewhere else. But will that money be enough to upset their happiness?

Today is the last day to enter into the portal until the Spring (March). I've seen a lot of speculation about Salter, but I kind of think today is the day it happens. If we make it through today and he's still here, I don't think there's much of a chance he transfers in the Spring. That same thought process applies to all of our returning starters.

In my brief interactions with him this weekend, he seems to really enjoy the Liberty environment. He introduced me to his “little” brother who is an LB playing for TCU. Nothing in that conversation tipped anything off about him being interested in going anywhere.

That's good to know. With his rapid change/growth over the summer, it seems plausible that a large part of it was due to the HCJC and Korn developing a relationship with him. My hope has always been that he's bought in enough to the culture that no amount of money or publicity could overcome that. Tough though when you're 20-22 years old.

I wouldn't blame him if he decided to transfer but LU has done a lot for him and I'd imagine that has got to at least influence his decision a little bit.

After the performance he had today against better competition I think the best thing he could do for his stock is stick around. He's nearly guaranteed to put up massive numbers again here next year but I think we would see a regression at the P5 level. Not because he doesn't have the talent but because his performance is heavily dictated by his confidence level and I think his experience playing under Hugh freeze would be pretty similar at most P5 schools.
