I don't get the 10-14 days timeframe either. Originally, they told us 5 days work to put it down but the head of the install company was here yesterday morning and he said 10 days would be a best-case scenario w/ 14 more likely. I don't know which one of those is sandbagging and which one is reality. The decision was made later that day (I'm guessing after the guy from the SID's office left) to bring in two other crews to help out so I don't know how that affects the realistic timeframe.

Barber's been worried enough for everybody. He was sitting out there in his Armada all of yesterday morning waiting for the truck to pull in. He was out there again for a good hour when it finally did show up in the afternoon.

No kidding Chris, I think we both heard 5 days at the max and that they could practice on it right away. 14 days and if it rains, is really going to be interesting...But as we always say, God is in control and has it all in his plan

Not to laugh at misfortune (OK maybe a little) It appears that Rocco and Barber are having their "Welcome to Liberty" moment! Wonder what the last regime would have done?

Any word on the second truck? I am not sure the NCAA will go for us playing half-field 'make it, take it' for the home opener.

The word was that the second truck had broken down on the way here and that's why it didn't show up with the first one. Hopefully, the crew can get started w/ what they've got until it arrives, I would guess, on Monday.

BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING YET!!!! (as 0f 415 Sat)

I just drove by, hoping to see some green on the sidelines. Nothing. Nada. NOT ONE FREAKIN' WORKER IN SITE!

Guess the 5 days is 5 actual working days, but it will take 10-14 actual days. Un-freakin-believable!!!

I did too and I didn't see anything. I know they marked off the field area but that's it/ Now I may not say it with the flowing venom of MR AG here but they really need to crack the whip on these guys and get this job done.

Now if LU could offer Christian Service Hours, then we could get students coming out of the woodwork to help. Heck, I bet they would even show up early to do it.

I guarantee you there'd be students out there like crazy for Christian service.

Seems like murphy's law at work again for LU. It's kind of bizarre that so many other schools had no glitches with their install. (W&M, UMass, et al)

I would second the motion that I hope no one takes shortcuts (installers) and no one creates an environment where one would feel forced to take shortcuts (admin.) Though, undoubtedly some here will disagree with me, I would rather have a complete, professional install free of mistakes (remember the Chiefs/Chefs commercial a few years back), than a rush job just to get the field ready for what essentially is an exhibition pre-season game for LU on a Thursday (no offense to the St. Paul's fans.) I would rather see them take the necessary amount of time, whether it's correct that its 5 days or 14 days, to get it right the first time so we don't see, Liberty Lames in the endzone, or have extra hash marks in various places around the field. Although it might damper the fan excitement a little bit, it wouldn't be catastrophic to play the St. Paul game elsewhere if push came to shove to ensure a quality install.

PeterParker spins a pretty good rationale, there. Do it right. The first time. It needs to stand up to the quality construction we are all used to at LU.

I saw a white car in the football stadium. Does AD Barber drive a white Nissan Armada? If so Im guessing he is out there waiting for the second truck to arrive. (and thinking of who to yell at for this taking so long)

JB drives a white Armada and some of the install crew ride around in a white Caddy and they've both been over there today, so take your pick. It's weird; the install crew was in there doing something this morning, then gone, then back doing something else, then gone again and I just saw the Seamstress in the stadium on a cell phone. Maybe they really need that 2nd truck on-site to get things rolling (no pun intended).

Perhaps PANFAN1 stole the stuff for his LANDSCAPING.

So what are the chances we get the turf down, without the logos, before the first game and then put the logos on within that next week?

SJ:

Once the under gravel is set, it only took about a week to lay the turf. The sand/rubber composte is a seperate operation. It only takes a couple of days, but requires good weather.

Looks like you'll make it unless you get a week of rain. Good luck!

Do you have a quota for getting the words "whipper snapper" on every page? So far you've gotten it on 3 of the past 4 pages.

when my highschool got fieldturf in 2000 it took 14 days but they had also just introducing it, ours was the first installation of fieldturf in the state of washington so they didnt know how to do it. Im sure in 6 years they have shortened that time period some, theres no way it could still take that long.
