Unfortunately, I believe that is the case.
Not necessarily. If the AAC champ goes to the Cotton Bowl, we’ve still got a shot with the Cure Bowl.

In the past when there are more bowl-eligible teams then bowl-game slots the first thing that happens is the conferences will get their bowl eligible teams in to their tie-in spots and then bowl game executives will reach out to the other bowl eligible teams for at-large spots and spots where certain conferences didn't get their slots filled with the tie-in agreements.

As long as Memphis wins next week the Cure Bowl is ours. But there may be some other conferences that didn't get their slot filled like the SEC won't be able to fill both the Independence Bowl or the Birmingham Bowl. The SEC has 9 teams bowl eligible and it is likely that they will atleast get 1 team into the playoff and potentially two IF Georgia beats LSPOO in the SEC Championship Game, which if that happens then it opens up one of their other bowl games like the Belk Bowl.

All this to say that we may have to wait until Saturday afternoon for any breaking news about the Cure Bowl or other Bowls.

Regardless, having these conversations is fantastic!

ULM winning doesn't change our chances for the Cure Bowl. They're from the Sun Belt. Cure Bowl opening would come from the AAC, if at all.

ULM should not affect us for the Cure Bowl. As long as the AAC can’t fill their spots. If Memphis gets a NY6 bid.

50 seconds left, and Monroe is near mid-field.

Also, the Frisco Bowl puts a team from the American Athletic Conference vs an At-large. I do know the MAC has more teams eligible than they do bowl slots. We have a head to head win against a 7-5 Buffalo team which may help us in the selection against any team from the MAC. Just my two cents though cuz I have no proof of that.

It helps but we could use a Hawaii victory tonight. Memphis beating Cincy back to back weeks would assure us of a slot.

Hawaii plays Army tonight. The game they could win to help us would be next week against Boise.

There are 78 teams qualified for 78 spots. Not including Liberty. Sounds like we need Memphis to win and that gets us a Cure Bowl date vs. Sun Belt opponent (Georgia State, Georgia Southern) in Orlando.

Listening to Chad's interview...We need Memphis to win to get the Cure bid because the Sun Belt has their bids locked up. I assume Ark State or Georgia State.

What happens if App. State go into major bowl game? I guess mainly we need Memphis or App. State to get in major bowl game instead of Boise State.

Either a Memphis win or Hawaii beating Boise would put either Memphis or Cincinnati (probably Memphis) in the NY6, and that would free up the Cure Bowl bid for us. If Cinci beats Memphis and Boise wins, I suspect a 1-loss Boise will get in over Memphis or Cinci with 2 losses. Go Rainbow Tigers!
