If he doesn't our offense won't be as good as I think it will be.
Agree, and with Lambros being hurt for 4 weeks or so, it's a must.
It's a must with or without Lambros.

anybody know if this afternoons practice is on the turf or the grass? If it's the turf I may swing by. There's nowhere to sit if it's the grass.

It's on the grass. This morning was on the turf. The best place to watch if you want on the grass is to either bring a lawn chair or stand up on the steps at the front of the building.

NewsAdvance wrote:Injury sidelines LU nickel back for the season

The play was innocuous enough. Donald Manns came off the corner in a nickel blitz, tried to work his way past Liberty offensive lineman Justin Vargas and planted his leg in the Williams Stadium turf.

Then came the sickening snap, and Manns’ chances of ever playing in 2008 took a major hit. Manns, a junior who is the first defensive back off the bench in the Flames’ nickel package, dislocated his left ankle and broke his left femur at practice Thursday.

Liberty coach Danny Rocco said it will be at least two or three months before Manns can even consider coming back. Surgeons inserted screws and a plate in the leg to stabilize the fracture.

“It just gave out on him,” Rocco said. “It’s an unfortunate situation, a freak accident, a non-contact accident.”

Chris is good, but I wanted to point these two things out:

It was the grass. His foot dug into the actual ground and didn't slip with the rest of his body.

It was dislocated ankle and broken fibia.

That's what I get for not being out there every day, in terms of the difference between the turf and grass. Unfortunately, I had other responsibilities that day (Hillcats) and made a bad assumption of where the injury occured. As far as the actual bone break, that's the information I got from the head man, so I went with it.

Not trying to be defensive, Jon ... I appreciate the corrections. Seriously.

Well that sucks. He still has his redshirt year left and hopefully he can have a full recovery. We are fortunate that we have lots of depth at DB, but this is a big hit to that depth. Now more than ever we need Hicks to stay on top of his grades.

Is Saunders able to play this year?

I know you're not being defensive. It was probably just a slip up from Coach Rocco. The two words are close enough together that it'd be easy to say the wrong one.

Technically Chris was right. Grass is turf. Its just not the artificial variety.

The LBs get their turn of SID attention ...
LibertyFlames.com wrote:When you look at the linebacker position, the loss of Vince Redd, Stevie Ray Lloyd and Brandon Duke would lead you to believe that this is going to be a light position or not as talented,” stated Rocco. “And that might be a true statement, but we have plenty of guys here who can play at a very high level.”

“Nick Hursky is the leader of that group and is a rising senior who had an outstanding year last year,” continued Rocco. “He runs the defense as the MIKE linebacker in this 3-4 defense. He has gotten plenty of experience now and understands the calls. He is the heart and soul of our defense, and we really expect great things from him.”

Yes.

Rocco said today Manns is out for the year. Bolden tried to come back to practice, but he wasn't ready. Cheek and Lawrence were both getting MRIs today. Lots of practices being cut short for lack of personnel.
