Sly does it all of the time and the rest of us are blamed. I did it one time back in spring of 06, was asked not to again, and haven't said anything that I didn't first get permission. I'm still waiting on the major football renovations he was talking about last fall that never happened that we all told him he was wrong for.

What's wrong with speculation? That's like 70% of sports (aka, the offseason). I could see somebody leaking something like some surprise package for the next game, getting upset at that. But Hancock needs to just get over everything else. Would they rather go back to nobody caring about LU sports?


MASN will most likely put as many LU games on TV that they have room for. They need programing to fill air time, and we're doing all of the work anyway. Why not just stick our feed on the air and play their own commercials over ours? (I'm sure it's slightly more complicated but a lot easier than getting a CSU game on TV). It's a win-win, that most schools don't have the luxury of.

Because this isn't sports, it's business. And if said speculation has any basis in fact but the deal hasn't been finalized, then speculation can quite easily queer the deal. I just hope that Sly hasn't pooped in our cake here because he just had to be the first to tell us what flavor the icing is.

I can understand both sides of this...but Sly does do this all the time and sometimes I wish he would keep his mouth shut...especially since he rarely comes out and says much of anything....

on the flip side it is fun to talk about this stuff and this board is nothing but a positive for Liberty Athletics and the department shouldn't get so upset about these kind of things because ultimately its a good thing because people are starting to care about things...which is good in my opinion...

Talk about a tough crowd. The innocuous remark I made in this thread is hardly merits the discussion that followed much less jeopardized anything in this instance. At worst it raised expectations that could possibly not be met.

If you pay attention, the cryptic teases I post from time to time are always very carefully worded. Sometimes they spur discussion that is counterproductive from the school's perspective. And that's why I haven't done it quite so often in recent months.

And it is funny that the one instance a year ago where I made some cryptic remarks that seem to be used as an argument against me were not false despite what some on here seem to believe. I generally have multiple sources when I post something speculative in nature.

I don't have a dog in this skirmish, but after reading the thread, it appears that if Hancock is really concerned about information leaking, then just have those privy in the inner circle sign confidentiality agreements.

As for the admin getting upset about a board discussing LU athletics perhaps they should realize that if people are talking it is because they care. When silence abounds from the fans is when LU should be worried...for it is usually accompanied by ambivalence.
