AGS is a fairly important poll. Maybe not the be all end all, but fairly well known in FCS circles (heck I vote in that poll myself). This tells me that LU still is not one of those teams that comes up in a top team discussion in FCS. Now if we go out and win 11 games and make the playoffs (and getting a win would pretty much be the icing on the cake) then people will start to look at them differently in the FCS community at large.

Well that's just sad...(Id bet that if I didnt vote or at least admit I did then the poll would matter more...) anyway, fact is, it plays a part in playoff selection and really the one that I would guess is seen as the most important poll for this division is the Sports Network FCS Coaches Poll. but as has been said before, its a preseason poll. A lot changes once everybody actually gets on the gridiron

BJ yes or no, when you are voting do you have game notes in front of you...I imagine you being in the C-Lab with a notebook of about 3 or 4 pages worth of notes so you vote properly....oh yeah and binoculars just in case someone of any importance walks by outside the window

1. No. I usually have the scoreboard for the previous week and my ballot for the previous week. I can read up on the different games as I go and then depending on the result and the poll history and my voting history I vote accordingly for the new week. I usually have all that stuff on my computer screen so I can have it ready with just a few clicks of the mouse.
2. I dont keep any binoculars with me and I actually try to stay away from windows especially when Im trying to get work done.

Getting back to the ranking, I think that it is fair for the most part since we are losing quite a few key seniors (transfers included) and we have not had a quality win since beating App State many year's ago. I think that we have the potential to achieve a top 20 status ranking but we must beat the Elon's and the Youngstown's to have a chance and not just whipping up on the Big South bottomfeeders.

This year we are going to find out more about Coach Rocco's recruiting classes since they are the ones who need to step up to fill in for these "quick fix" transfers that have graduated. It should be an interesting year and we are again in a position to prove the pollsters that we deserve a higher pre-season ranking. The Youngtown St game would be an early indicator of where we stand as a program in the national 1AA scheme of things.

Who cares about pre-season rankings, anyway? So what if you don't get any respect? I'd rather get no votes in the preseason top 25 poll and finish up there than have my accolades lauded and then suck all season. It's always better to be the underrated than overrated. In 2005 all the "experts" picked PC to finish 5th in the SAC and Carson Newman to win it big. Well, we beat the crap out of Carson Newman, won against everyone else, and hosted a playoff game.
