BJ without checking ESPN or wikipedia what do you know about Lafayette?
Lafayette comes out of the Patriot League, been to the playoffs two of the last three years. (If what I read on them is accurate). They have one of the longest rivalries in I-AA/FCS football with Lehigh (a previous LU opponent)

I would worry much more about a loss to Lafayette than to either WCU or Coastal if I were a Flame. As for booking an Elon loss... I think I'll wait a while before I do that.

Last year's Elon game was clearly not a true indicator of how close the 2 teams really are. I think this year we will see that. Fact is, Elon's coach circled the game last year with LU at the beginning of spring ball as a game to "make a statement." We ran into a buzzsaw. I'm looking forward to that game this year as it could be a playoff game to get into the playoffs.

I think we have a legitimate chance to go undefeated this year. At the worst I believe we will end up 9-3. Just like everyone else says.... Youngstown St and Elon scare me, but I think we will take Elon because of the fact that we made such mental errors last year at their place. We will definitely bring our A game that day.

If pick up where we left off at the end of last season, we will have a great year and make the playoffs and hopefully keep App St from a 4th title in a row! haha.

If you think that was a true showing for Liberty, you're insane. We didn't show up, and we got killed.

If you paid attention to any game after that, you would see that game was the fluke. Are you saying you guys were better than Toledo because we definitely played a better game against them than you guys. That was the true Liberty team.

As was every game after Elon. That game was the most embarrassed I’ve felt in the Rocco era, but it may end up being the game that our program made a turn towards greatness.

Listen guys, I think you're a better team than you showed against Elon last year as well. But, of course you did better against other teams than Elon. Look at who you played:Tusculum, Shippensburg, William & Mary, St. Francis, Charleston Southern, Presby, Coastal, VMI, Gardner-Webb... Come on!

I really don't know anything about Toledo. So I can't say who's better but if you look at the final Sagrin ratings http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbt07.htm Elon is rated 94, Toledo is rated 126, Liberty is rated 129 and Coastal is rated 183. Based on what I know about Elon and Liberty I'd say the ratings are just about right. BUT, ratings don't win games. That's why we play instead of just taking Jeff Sagrin's word for it.

I'll be there for the game. I look forward to meeting some of you.

tusculum and coastal have both beaten elon on their own home field. a tremendous "home field advantage" in a fairly new stadium (a beautiful stadium i might add - coastal won 17-10 that day) that has yielded a stellar 17-23 record for the local boys... . i really can't believe i'm reading smack about football from an elon fan.

it's plain to see there is great reason for optimism at elon, but one winning season since 2000 surely shouldn't make your britches shrink that small.

Finally some testicular fortitude!!! Coastal definately had ONE good year in football (2006) in which we kicked their hineys at THEIR home field. Then they graduated 38 seniors. It shouldn't take them more than another 3 years to build a moderately BSC worthy team. I respect Costal for their baseball. I wish they had been accepted into the Southern Conference when they were trying so hard, and I still say they deserved to be there vs. Samford (except for their endowment, their (less than) beautiful stadium and their inability to meet a Southern Conference academically worthy program).

I STILL expect Liberty to be the runaway football champion (class and record) of the BSC. Probably for years to come.

No smack, just fact.

well we are 96 days away from the opener sports fans. I was thinking of starting some discussions on some of the key players coming into the fll to help keep things from stagnating too much.
Coaching changes

It appears your intel was on the mark.
