I just think the flames design on a helmet is absolutely atrocious and if we ever did that I would, well, after I threw up, I don't know what I'd do. We'd be the laughing stock of uniforms across the country. Paul Lukas would write an article just about us and how bad our helmets looked.

I'm honestly surprised that our helmet is a problem with a lot of people. I honestly like it when compared to the rest of the league and personally I like it more than most college helmets. As I was going through that site I saw a TON of crappy helmets. Ours looks strong, smooth and clean. It looks like it belongs on a helmet. Many of the designs I looked at on the site were terrible. The logos on the helmets didn't looked like they belonged. Ours actually looks like something designed for a helmet. There may be something nicer out there but I haven't seen it.

My only suggestion would be a white outline or shadow for the word "Liberty" so it comes off of the helmet a little.

Yes...the dorm 10 alumni agree...they actually did a logo with the white outline background...let me see if I can post it...here's what it would look like on a metallic blue helmet with a white background around the logo...I like that the best...and it keeps things the same...don't go creating more logos...brand one logo!!

That logo looks cool. I'd like to see the white a little tighter to the logo and not as much filled in the center. Either way I agree that we would do ourselves well to keep the logo and brand it everywhere!

Perhaps just make the logo all white on the blue helmets, that would make the logo stand out better. The red "Liberty" just doesn't show well now.

I like the Dorm 10 design and the extra white border...the only mod that might make it a little better concerns placement. Perhaps mimicking the Seattle Seahawks logo placement on the helmet might work. Using the new log with the Dorm 10 modification, have it placed a little bit back so that it wraps from around the back and sweeps up around the side of the helmet like the Seahawks placement. Might work...would like to see a mock up like those to previous posts of this idea for those who have the time.

I have to agree with Tally on this one. We have a great logo but it does tend to get lost a little bit on non-complimentary backgrounds. I'm not concerned about the helmets because, unless it's a televised game, nobody's close enough to get a detailed look at the decal anyway.
The one that bothers me is when they painted the logo in the center of the field but did nothing to separate the blue and red from the green of the field. That's just bad graphic design, right there. By the fourth game, the colors had faded significantly and we ended up with a vague blue and red stain on the field.
We should have painted a sillouhette of the logo in slightly larger scale with white and then put the logo on top of that to make the whole effect pop a little bit. Hopefully, we'll have this part rectified w/ the new FieldTurf and have a quality rendition of the logo sewn into the grass.

LUCONN, I am all with you about getting flamefans.com shirts with our names on them. I say we get a few of us together and head to universal t's to get them made up. Then whoever wants one can go get one with their name on the back. Our number of memebers would skyrocket!

I have seen the shirt.. we were doing pregame for the VMI game and Medic walked over, I would have never known who he was, had he not had it on!!! The shirt is really cool, I think it would be pretty cool to design a logo with flamefans.com, have that on the front of all the shirts and then get your name put on the back...Brian could come up with something pretty cool over at Universal T's... I will continue to take new pics of the Opp center every week seeing that I am one of the few local's that will be around for the bulk of summer..
