It was a top-notch thing to do, and it most certainly did not go unnoticed. Thanks for the kind words!
In fact, everything at Elon was top-notch except for the Flames football team today. The fans, the tailgate atmosphere, the stadium, etc. was all great. To all of the Elon fans on the board, thanks for being such great hosts. You've got an A+ program down there.

HOWEVER, I can not sit on this one. I was UNfortunate enough to attend the game today and witness the worst Liberty Game I have seen in years....(YES even including the 1-10 season!)
At what point should the coach say...."Dang, Brock Cant hit the broad side of the barn...WE SHOULD turn to the RUN!"
Granted the run was not pretty but it was 100% better than Brock's 6-20 first half completions....and trust me the numbers look better than his performance. He stared at ONE receiver every play giving a dead give away who he was throwing to and EVERYTIME he is forced out the pocket...there is not a good outcome.
Congrats to the O-Line today for being the only positive thing today....and the kickers....GREAT KICKOFFS!
Not only that, our Cover 2 Defense was the most embarassing. We got passed on for over 400 yards against W&M....Does it not occur that we need to work on our coverage at all. Two players single handidly beat our coverage, their TE #87 and WR #19. It was posted in the local newspaper in Elon...A HUGE ARTICLE....about their game plan to attack our secondary....that the biggest give away in sports!
WE DID NOTHING! It wasnt til Spencer Landis got in that we posted a decent drive. And no I am not a member of the Spencer fan-club. Personally I think our best QB is the freshman.
Anyway, I am done venting, and if you were not at the game......i guarentee that the radio and stats do no justice to the pathetic display of LU football. Last week we talked about making a name for ourselves @ W&M...and this week I think we need to discuss how will we recover.

Once we put our back-up quarterback in (Landis?), he was hitting every receiver. It seemed like he had almost more completions in part of one quarter than Brock had the whole game, who was constantly overthrowing his receivers. If the game had any redeeming value at all, it was seeing our back up QB perform very well in the closing minutes. Are you reading this Coach Rocco?
It's time for a change.
Sly Fox wrote:I agree with that statement wholehaeartedly EXCEPT for the fact that Wake last year found the same holes. GW absolutely killed our Cover 2 when we knew they were going to pass.
But my biggest concern is our total inability to stop the pass. This has gone from a slight concern to an epidemic in the past two weeks. We have guys back there who have performed in the past but they are completely ineffective right now. I'm not sure if it is the schemes or the personnel at this point. It could be both. But until we find a way to stop the pass you can bet we're going to be seeing a steady diet of it for the next few weeks.
