That's a good one, cowpoker. The Bluehose, "go hoes." That is classic. I knew the force is strong within you.

Gotta admit, the whole Star Wars thing is one of the stranger turns I've seen this board take. Well, that, and someone registering under the name "Brokeback Flamer." (I thought it might have been givemethemic, but maybe not --- ducking for cover  ) Good for a laugh at least.

Yes, brokeback, it appears we have PC headed our way. They are planning on stepping up from DII this summer at their annual board meeting and it is believed that an invitation to join our league has either already been offered or is inevitable.

I don't think that PC would have that much to offer right now and it probably won't give the BSC an auto bid to the playoffs. What the league needs right now is more quality wins such as CCU's win over James Madison. Need more wins over the likes of Furman, Georgia Southern, William and Mary, Appalachian State, and Montana, teams that have been on BSC team's schedules but seem to get blown out every game. That is the only way the BSC will get recognized and for the BSC to get out of there own little world. The committee that determines the auto bids for conferences knows this and are not going to be fooled. Getting back to PC joining the BSC, they could be the next Wofford if they make the right moves and schedule the right teams. But it might take a few years. Remember it didn't take South Florida U very long to build a good program and look where they are right now.

That was pretty funny, just imagine if they had the chant like VT does in the red zone..... For those you that know what I am talking about that would be freaking crazy.

Presby has been pretty solid in FB, though I don't know much about them, or what they bring to the table in other sports- but in keeping with the original theme of this thread- I think Coach is very smart here. The guys are looking forward to a new start- and a couple wins early could really help with confidence building- they can be running downhill into the tougher part of the season.

Getting pumped for the season.

I like the schedule. With our recent lack of success we just need to beat someone. We aren't ready for a top notch schedule right now. We are starting from square 1 and we just need to beat a few people. Upgrade the schedule in years to come. Right now, let's just win 6 or 7 games this year.

I kinda like the schedule actually. Of course I have talked to some of my marching band friends and they aren't too thrilled with having to play on a Thursday night, but the teams we have scheduled are still pretty nice for a first year coach

I think they just aren't looking forward to performing and then being back on the field the very next day rehearsing again (since we practice MWF). I kinda like it. I was hoping for the Coastal game last season to be a Thursday night game actually

NO offense.... but let's be honest you play on a FOOTBALL field not a BAND field.... don't get me wrong the band is important but if there was no football you would not be there... so no complaining please

GMTM I have no problem with anything on the schedule. Frankly, Im excited (considering I didn't exactly come from a school with a rich tradition in the marching band program). I was simply relaying the feelings I get from people I have talked to. There are others who are just as excited as I am (heck it means missing hall meeting w00t w00t)

There were some band people that were actually rooting for Hofstra in 97 when I was in the band, b/c they didn't want LU to make the playoffs and miss part of break!!

That being said...still a lot of the band members were big football fans...myself included.

Givemethemike is actually wrong about there not being bands without football...correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there were parade bands before football evolved (hate that word) out of rugby at the academic schools, i.e. Princeton and Lehigh...

Furthermore, there are programs like Drum Corps International that are fully self-supporting...that's what was on ESPN, and that's where they can get 70,000 people out to see field shows with no football in the way (ha,ha).

Also, I believe the University of Orlando has a separate Drum Corps program (The Spirit of Orlando) from its collegiate marching band, so that band operates completely independent of football, and its been very popular. In addition, field shows are not always done on football fields...they've been done on baseball fields, etc.

Now I'm a huge LU football fan, and I admit there are fair-weather band members when it comes to rooting for football, but don't going saying marching bands wouldn't exist without football!!

I haven't been to a Drum Corp Show in quite a while. If it comes back to Salem VA annually like it normally does in the summer, I might have to go to it.

Me and my wife sometimes go to the show in Salem. You know, they actually had a show at Williams Stadium one year...the Cadets, Crossmen, Blue Coats, Carolina Crown, and a couple others came...

It was funny to hear Dr. Falwell sound so suprised at how quickly the tickets sold...the day they went on sale, people bought them all the way from New York...

Anway, I am ultimately a football fan, as many band people, so I'll try to get this back on topic, I just had to watch the band members backs...remember, these people are at all of the games (except for the regretted first NCAA win against Penn State...ugh...how were we not there!!!??)...anyway I like the football schedule this year...LU needs to build up the confidence.

Tougher schedules will follow.

Like I said before, I got nothing against the band, it was just the whole point whining about a Thursday night and keeping in focus why the main reason we are there... PM me if you really want to know the startling truth as to why are beloved band didn't show up for Penn.St.... I will not go into details on the board for fear of being killed upside the head by a Trumpet

I agree with many of you here that our schedule is weak and the first three opponents ar cream puffs - but newsflash - WE ARE A CREAMPUFF TOO! Remember Concord last year - remember the next ten games following? I think we'll be much improved this year - but we still have a LONG way to go. This program needs wins anyway they can get them right now. I will be thrilled if we can come out of the first 3 games 3-0.
