Actually, I'm a high school art teacher (and HFC). The other crucial element for an offensive line, and I think that is in place for this group especially is chemistry. Even with the potential newcomer at rt. guard, there is already an established connection with our rt. tackle. The tight end situation could be new, as I understand Richard Thom and Cory Rasberry are battling it out this spring. Not sure what is going on with Luck. Maybe someone could clarify.

Thom and Rasberry have both been in the program for awhile and seen some time on the field. I heard from someone that Luck is "walking wounded" right now. Hurt just enough to limit him. It was nice to see some of the '07 recruits on hand today. I counted 3; Shaver, possibly Bannon and one other guy.

The 3 I saw were Tommy Shaver, Pat Bannon, and Mike Brown. Shaver really enjoying Bill Gillespie's workout program. He is now 6'6 1/2" and 252 pounds, he could look good out there beside Ausberry and Pinigis.

A quick off topic side step:

I feel that Gillespie's involvement with the program and his performance/professional pedigree is a major selling point of the program and new Rocco Football Camp; they should market that in tandem with Rocco's "celebrity." (Maybe they are already doing this, I don't know.)

But, to have daily access to a strength guru like that overseeing your workouts along with the accompanying weight room environment would be great. While he is more of a strength/powerlifting guy, any person interested in bodybuilding can appreciate the advantage of having a guy like that pushing you to new limits in your workouts...

Oh, it is. Bill is one of the highlights of the tour.

One correction though: Bill's major strength is his ability to be sport-and position-specific. He's a powerlifting guy when it comes to himself and powerlifting competition but when it comes to strength-training for football or basketball, he approaches that completely differently.

recap from the SID

http://libertyflames.com/index.cfm?PID= ... 43&TeamID=
Despite the weather, Liberty was still able to practice their traditional individual drills, as well as offense versus defense simulations and special teams situations, and several positives were drawn from the day’s proceedings.

The Liberty quarterbacks continued to improve and develop, as stated by quarterbacks coach Brandon Streeter. “I think the quarterbacks are progressing each and every day. It was tough, we were missing some personnel and some receivers who weren’t there because of classes. Because of that, timing was a little off at certain points, but overall, I believe the quarterbacks are progressing each and every day.”

I drove by on the way to east campus for my softball game about 3:30 and the team was on the field doing suicides it looked like. When I came back there was a kicker on the field practicing. But... they were practicing, and that is exciting.

They moved it up in anticipation of the bad weather. I missed it too, which was disappointing. Still got the interviews I needed for a Friday story on Brock Smith. (shameless plug).

thanks LIB

was this the kid I heard about- was making 50 yarders, and knocking them thru from the sidelines/other crazy angles?

I think he was RS last season?

He did RS last year. I don't know what you've heard about 50 yds and crazy angles but booting it from the sidelines is standard FG practice for kickers. Barbosa does have a great leg though and he'll certainly be pushing for the starting job in the fall.

On a side note, Danny Broggin is looking really really good.

if he's that good I don't how this is an issue.

I know- easy for me to say- but winning is "the only thing" as they say :D

Broggin is the b/u RB, right? I know that we discussed that here somewhere

EDIT: found it in the thread SMOOTHIE locked (thread nazi :P ) which actually had a few good articles

Broggin is looking at being Zack's backup at the A-back spot.

Zach, take two

When former William Campbell quarterback Danny Broggin started fall camp last year, he knew he wasn't ready for the rigors of Division I football.

"I came in last year and I told them my body wasn't ready," Broggin said. "But (the coaches) told me I had no excuse this year, to be ready to play."

Since then, Broggin put on 15 pounds of muscle and studied LU's playbook inside and out.

He'll back up Zach Terrell at the "A-back" position, a hybrid running back/wide receiver spot.

The position suits Broggin well. As a quarterback, he helped William Campbell win the Group A, Division 1 championship in 2005. He also was an excellent scrambler with speed in the open field and sometimes lined up as a slot receiver.

"I feel like I can run pretty good routes, but I'm not as tall as a regular receiver," said the 6-foot, 205-pound Broggin. "I feel like I can run the football, but at the same time I'm not as big as a normal running back.

"They swap me in, and I just go out and do the best I can."

Thanks for the pix, oldflame. Heard 96 plays run today on offense. That's a lot of reps.
